【題目】閱讀填空

What do you think being beauty really means? All answers to that question are correct, because there are no right or wrong replies. Despite(不管) what society tries to make us believe, there is no “ideal” beauty. There are exact standards—hair colour, or eye colour—that make someone beautiful. Think about it: did you consider someone to be really beautiful, but your friend didn’t see it? That’s because what’s attractive to one person isn’t necessarily going to be attractive to another. So how can we believe that there’s a standard for beauty? It makes no sense.

Weight-loss companies and clothing industries seem to have made it their goal to get us believe that we are not enough and that we need all kinds of things to be prettier. It’s not true! Companies sell us this ideas for their products to make money. I’m not saying that buying beauty products is bad, but what would be bad is using them because you feel like you have to look a certain way in order to be “beautiful”.

Remember, the people wear tons of make-up and are photoshopped in order to look perfect. When you see a girl who society considers as a “great body”, you have to remember that people have different body types and everyone’s body is different. We’re all beautiful, whether we’re slim, thickset or anywhere in between. If you want to lose weight, go ahead, but do it in a healthy way and do it for the right reason—not because you want to fit in. Being comfortable with yourself is really important, and being with others who accept you as you are and don’t ask you to change to look a specific(特定的) way is important too.

I couldn't understand teenage fashion, so I asked my 15-year-old niece Hanna to help me find out more about teenage fashion.

The Goths(哥特風(fēng))

The Goths are dressed from head to toe in black jeans, black fingernails and black make-up for both boys and girls. Hanna told me that the Goths think of themselves as "dark, romantic and mysterious". They like to listen to dark, depressing music in their bedrooms.

The "emos"(情緒搖滾風(fēng))

"Emos" teenagers can be recognized by their tight jeans and T-shirts, as well as their haircuts. Their hair usually has a long fringe(劉海), often covering one or both eyes. The name "emo" comes from "emotion hardcore(情緒硬核)", a type of underground rock music that developed from the mid-1980s hardcore punk(硬核朋克)

Ravers(銳舞派對(duì)風(fēng))

These teenagers were wearing very bright colours-greens, pinks, and yellows. These kids listen to electronic dance music and go to "raves"-parties where they dance all night.

Hanna pointed out members of other groups. The boys playing annoying music on their mobile phones were "hoodies". They are named after their hooded sweatshirts(連帽運(yùn)動(dòng)衫).The girl sitting at the front likes to wear alternative(另類的)clothes and listen to alternative music. Now I learned that "old" people like me(I'm 32 ) can't think it looks good. It's a language that young people speak and older people can't learn.

1Which kind of music do the Goths like?

2What does the writer think of the youth fashion

3Do you like wearing alternative clothes? Why or why not?

【題目】 About 800 years ago, a Chinese man named Wang Hu made the world's first rocket, but unluckily he lost his life with it. It was not until April 24, 1970 that China sent its first satellite Dongfanghong-1to space successfully.

To celebrate the first big success for the country's space development, April 24 is now China's Space Day, which started this year. While celebrating, China also announced(宣布)new plans to make a space station and go to Mars and further space.

A space station is like a home for astronauts in space. Astronauts live and work on a space station and spaceships can even park there. China plans to finish building its space station in 2022.

According to China’s top space scientist Zhou Jianping, by that time, becoming an astronaut will be a normal job. Astronauts are needed more than ever before. They need to be able to finish more tasks. So far, China has been choosing astronauts mainly from pilots. In the future astronauts will also be picked from engineers, doctors and space technology experts.

Another plan is about Mars. In order to search Mars, China will send a probe(探測(cè)器)first to Mars around 2020. It will land there and even bring back things from the Mars.

It's such a big plan! Only by doing this can China say it has truly started the exploration of deep space. And the exploration will help us understand how the universe changes.

1Who made the world's first rocket?

2When is China’s Space Day?

3What does China plan to do in 2022?

4What will China do first to search the Mars?
