【題目】 Spring is coming. But not everyone is excited about it. This season brings pollen(花粉 )and dust. It makes some people sneeze and itch(發(fā)癢 ). What exactly happens to them?
What you will be like? | Your eyes itch. Your nose is running. You have rashes on your skin. |
Why does this happen? | An allergy(過(guò)敏癥) has to do with your immune system(免疫系統(tǒng)). Usually, the immune system fights against germs to keep you healthy. But when you have allergies, it acts differently and fights against things like grass, pollen or foods. This makes you feel uncomfortable. |
What to do? | Stay inside. When pollen season is here, stay indoors as much as possible. Wear a mask. If you are allergic to dust, clean your home often. Also, wearing a mask can be helpful. Keep clean. Wash your hands after playing outside. This helps you get rid of something dirty on your hands that may give you an allergy. |

【題目】 When your dream is to become a footballer and play for Barcelona team, nothing should get in your way—even if you have no feet.
An 11-year-old schoolboy Gabriel Muniz, who was born without feet, will fly from his home in Brazil to take part in the Spanish club’s summer training camp. Although he is disabled, Muniz is one of the top players at the school and captain of his gym class. He can run, pass and strike the ball as well as any of his able-bodied teammates. He spends all his spare time on the football pitch.
His best friend Lucas Santos spoke about his abilities on a video for The Sun, “He is skillful, he goes after it, he is fearless and he knows how to organize plays. He also makes good passes.” Mum Sandra was thrilled that her son would achieve his dreams. She said, "He started walking before he was one. We would go after him, expecting him to keep falling, but he never fell. "Muniz’s gym teacher added, "He is challenging the social standard. When he arrived there, no one believed in him." But he showed to everyone that he could play as well as any other boy. So he was invited to go to Spain to show his talent.
The Spanish La Liga soccer club has offered to fly Muniz to Spain in September, where he’ll be able to show off his fancy “footwork” and meet his idol, Barca soccer player Lionel Messi.
Muniz wears a prosthetic (假體的) ankle and foot to help him get around in rainy weather. He knows that his disability means he’ll never be able to play for a professional football team and so Muniz is hoping that football will one day become a Paralympics (殘奧會(huì)的) sport.

【題目】 Researchers in the 1960s found bilingual (雙語(yǔ)的) people scored higher on intelligence (智力) tests than monolinguals—people who speak only one language. The latest studies show that being bilingual does not necessarily make people cleverer, but it probably does make you better at certain skills.
Imagine driving down the highway. There’re many things that could attract your attention and you really need to be able to watch all of them. Why would bilingualism make you any better at that?
The answer is that bilingual people are often better at controlling their attention—a function (功能)called the executive control system. It’s quite possibly the most important system we have because it’s where all of your decisions about what to attend to, what to ignore (忽略), what process are made.
The best method to measure (測(cè)量) the executive control system is called the Stroop Test. Suppose you would have the word “blue” written in red, but you have to say the color red. But “blue” is so eye-catching, and you really want to say “blue”. You need to ignore it so that you can say the color red. That’s the Stroop Test.
Bilingual people continually practice this function. They have to, because both languages are active in their brain at the same time. They need to ignore one to be able to speak in the other. This exercise might help in other ways, too. Researchers say bilingual children are more likely to have friends from different cultures. Bilingual adults are often four to five years later than others in developing Alzheimer’s disease.

【題目】 What does it take to graduate from university? A couple of classes, some papers or high scores? Well, all these are not enough if you’re a student at Tsinghua University.
According to a new rule of the university, students must prove themselves in the pool. They need to complete a swimming test of at least 50 metres, and those who fail the test will be required to take a swimming course throughout their school years. By the time they graduate, they will have known how to swim; otherwise they can’t graduate with their bachelor’ s degrees (學(xué)士學(xué)位).
This news made waves in Chinese social media. Some people praised the university for requiring a necessary skill that can save lives, and they also believed that the move would help improve students’ overall physical fitness. However, others questioned if it was fair to expect those who come from inland cities to be able to swim.
In fact. this is not a new rule. Tsinghua University first made swimming a requirement in 1919. It was later dropped because the number of students became too many and there weren’t enough swimming pools on the campus for them to learn swimming.
Anyway, it’s still good news that Chinese students’ health and fitness have become more and more valued. Why not just take this chance to equip (裝備) yourself with one more life-saving ability?
【1】According to the new rule of Tsinghua University, what skill should students have before they can graduate with their bachelor’s degrees?

C.it would improve students’ overall physical fitness
D.it can help the students get high marks
【3】What does the writer think of the new rule?

【題目】Talking Too Much
Peter is such a big talker. He drives David and Andy crazy! Peter thinks he is great at everything! What makes David and Andy even crazier is the fact that Peter IS good at everything! He always scores goals in soccer games. He won first place in the school speech competition. He always gets perfect marks on his tests. He can finish a math test first and get the best score in the class.
How can one person be so good at so much? However, Peter is not good at one thing. He is not good at being a good sport. No matter what Peter does well, he makes sure everyone knows about it. He is also quick to make unkind comments about other kids' mistakes. David and Andy's one wish is that Peter learns to be humble.
Not many people tell Peter what a good job he does, or congratulate him on his achievements, because Peter has already talked about them to everyone too proudly. He does not give anyone a chance to learn about anything he has done. David and Andy wish Peter could be more like Jack.
Jack is the new kid in class this year. He does not talk much, but he is very good at many sports and is also super smart. It has taken the rest of the kids a while to learn about Jack and all his talents. Andy, David, and the other kids are happy to congratulate Jack when he scores a goal or gets a great score on a test. Jack just smiles and says thanks.
