A grand international horticultural(園藝)exhibition kicked off on April 29, 2019 Monday in Beijing. Chinese President Xi expressed his hope that the green development concept(理念)embodied(體現(xiàn))by the Expo park would be spread to “every corner of the world”.
The International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing is the highest-level and largest international fair held in China after the International Horticultural Exhibition held in the southwest city of Kunming in 1999, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and the first China International Import Expo in 2018.
“The development model of ‘killing the hens for eggs' and ‘draining(排空)the lake for fish' is at a dead end, "Xi said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Expo. "The future will be illuminated(發(fā)光的)by eco-friendly development that is in accordance with the rules of nature.”
“China's ecological civilization(生態(tài)文明)development is on fast track. People will live in a better environment with blue sky, green mountains and clear water, "Xi said." We should protect the ecological environment like protecting our eyes and value it in the same way we value our lives.”
“Only with concerted efforts can we effectively(有效)deal with global environment issues such as climate change, marine(海洋)pollution and biological protection and achieve the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable(可持續(xù)的)Development goals," he said.
He put forward a five-point suggestion: pursuing(追求)harmony between human and nature, prosperity(繁榮)based on green development, a passion for mature-caring lifestyles, a scientific spirit in ecological governance and joint efforts to deal with environmental challenges.
"The Beijing Horticultural Expo, themed ‘Live Green, Live Better', is one of the major international events hosted by China in 2019, which marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It indicates(標(biāo)識(shí))that China has changed from a participant(參與者)in global green development to a contributor and leader, "said Wu Shunze, an expert with the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Make Your Own Money
It's holiday time, while it's the great time to make some money. Some US teenagers use their imagination and skills to get more money.
New York tennis player Antonio Rivera, 15, serves as a hitter or practice partner for players who want to improve their skills. "You might think, 'why would a parent want to hire (雇傭) me when there are more professional tennis teachers'?" Rivera said. "But as a teen, I can offer my lessons for less money and give a more personal experience."
Many teens turn their extracurricular (課外的) activities into money-making businesses. "If you're good at something—sports, arts, math, science, English, computer software or languages, you can trade that for money," Rivera said.
Harlan Feet, 17, of New York, is a good example. He makes money by getting rid of (消除) computer viruses (病毒) and maintaining (維護(hù)) social media accounts on sites like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. He also takes photos of products and posts them online for people who sell goods through online stores.
"Today's kids have grown up with skills that many adults don't like to spend time learning," said Feet, laughing. "That just means money for me." For example, he's found a way to make money by helping families scan (掃描) old photos and save digital versions (數(shù)字版本) of the pictures.
If you have artistic skills, there's a market for you, too. Texan Shyla Boehm, 17, makes and sells handmade things such as small bags and greeting cards. Boehm has set up a shop online and offers her skills online.
1.How does Rivera make money?
A.By being a tennis teacher. B.By posting photos online.
C.By selling handmade items. D.By cleaning people's computers.
2.From the story, we know Feet is good at ________.
A.sports B.science C.computers D.languages
3.What is the story about?
A.What US teenagers usually do on vacation. B.How US teenagers make money on holidays.
C.How US teenagers make plans for their future. D.Why US teenagers should make their own money.

Science and technology makes our life easier and better than before. For example, a pair of shoes that helps you run faster and jumps higher, a cup that keeps your drink warm all the time, or a cute robot that talks to you, just like a human. The iPhone X is a “dream come true”, according to Apple. It does have some eye-catching selling points. The biggest selling point is Face ID. It can help users unlock their phone and pay for things just by looking at their smart phones.
According to Apple, Face ID has to do with a camera system(系統(tǒng)) called TrueDepth. When the camera system sees a person’s face, it “maps” the face with 30,000 invisible dots (看不見(jiàn)的點(diǎn)). Then the system creates and saves (保存)the model of the face in the phone.
The next time a person looks at the iPhone X, the same dots will compare his or her face with the saved model. If the two match, the phone unlocks. This happens in less than a second.
Apple says that the system is smart. So if you change your hairstyle, put on sunglasses, or use the phone in the dark, then it will still work.
But Face ID may not work with twins. According to Apple, the chance(機(jī)率) of someone unlocking your iPhone X by using Face ID is one in a million. Twins will make the statistics (數(shù)據(jù)) fall down, so you would really need to make a password for twins.
Apple also says that Face ID only unlocks when you look at it. So if you are sleeping or just taking a look at the phone very quickly, then it won’t unlock.
1.Why is our life easier and better according to this passage?
_________________________________________________
2.What is the biggest selling point of the iPhone X?
_________________________________________________
3.How long does it take to unlock the iPhone X by using Face ID?
_________________________________________________
4.To unlock the iPhone X, what do twins need?

5.Does Face ID unlock if you are looking at the phone with sunglasses?

“You say your hair is gone?” Jim said like an idiot (白癡).
“You needn’t look for it,” said Della. “It’s sold, I tell you - sold and gone, too. It’s Christmas Eve, boy. It’s time for gifts. Be good to me, for it went for you. Maybe the hairs of my head were numbered,” she went on with a sudden serious sweetness, “but nobody could ever count my love for you.”
Jim drew a package from his overcoat pocket and threw it upon the table.
“Don’t make any mistake, Dell...” he said, “...about me. I don’t think there’s anything that could make me like my girl any less, no matter what hair style you have. But if you’ll open that package you may understand how I felt at first.”
She opened the package with her white fingers quickly and lightly. And then an excited cry of joy; and then, alas! a quick change to uncontrollable tears.
For there lay the combs - the set of combs (發(fā)梳), side and back, that Della had dreamed of for long in a Broadway window. Beautiful combs with jeweled rims (邊緣)-just the color to wear in her beautiful hair. They were expensive combs, she knew, and her heart had always wanted them. But there was no hope of having them. And now they were hers, but the hair was gone. But she hugged them to her bosom (胸口), and at last she was able to look up with dim (黯淡的) eyes and a smile and say: “My hair grows so fast, Jim!”

C.To count her love for her husband.
3.How did Della feel when she first, saw her husband’s gift?
A.Sad and angry. B.Happy and excited. C.Surprised and painful.
4.From the last paragraph we learn that ________.
A.the combs matched Della’s beautiful hair well
B.the price of the gift from Della’s husband was very low
C.Della thought the combs in the window would be hers one day
5.What can we infer from the passage?
A.The husband showed more love than his wife.
B.The couple wanted to give each other a big surprise first.
C.The wife thought her husband’s gift was useless at last.
