　　One day a man was on his way to the market to sell a bundle of straw hats（一捆草帽）. He had to go through a forest. In the forest, there were a lot of monkeys. The day was hot and the man wanted to take a little rest. He saw a large tree. He put the hats on the ground, took out one of them and put it on his head. Then he laid down and soon fell asleep.

　　When the man woke up, he could not find his hats.

　　“Where are my hats?”he cried and looked up. And what did he see? He saw a lot of monkeys in the trees and each monkey had a hat on its head.

　　“Give back my hats!”cried the man. But the monkeys did not understand him. They only laughed. The man got very angry. He took off his own hat, threw it on the ground and cried,“If you want my hats, you may take this one too!”

　　And what do you think? The little animals did the same. Everyone of them took off its own hat and threw it on the ground. The man was very glad. He quickly picked up all his hats and went on his way.

To prove why math and reading skills matter, the report includes real-life examples of problems students meet in college and that workers must solve each day on the job. ?
Some states are taking actions to upgrade the high school diploma. In Texas, all high school students, starting with the 2008 graduating class, will have to take the college-prep curriculum (大學預備課程) - unless a parent agrees to an easier course load. Other states are planning similar moves.
