When I was little, my family used to move very often. Before I could even get to know my schoolmates well, my family was on the move again. I became very ______ because of this.

But a girl with dark skin and long shiny hair changed me. She is very outgoing and happy.

She is always smiling, like a beautiful sunflower following the sun. Without ______, I enjoyed being with her and soon we became good friends. As time went by, I gradually became a __ girl. But this joyful period didn’t last long. We _____ different colleges. I felt like I had gone back to my always-on-the-move childhood. I felt ______ and helpless and I was afraid that I would __ her as my best friend. She stayed calm and said to me: “Rain, you can achieve more than I do, so ______ to your dreams and make a big effort! Real friendship doesn’t fade and we will be best friends forever.” Maybe she didn’t realize what a great ______ she was to me at that time.

However, it turned out that my worries were well-founded. I felt that the ______ between us was getting bigger and bigger. One day, she sent me a text message happily telling me that she had fallen in love with a handsome boy in her class. I felt happy for her, but ______ I was secretly worried about our friendship. I ______ her several times to tell her to think carefully about her relationship with the boy, but I got no more messages from her. I felt sad that perhaps our friendship would die. I had almost given up hope ______ she visited me at my campus(校園) a week later. She looked weak ______ was wearing the most beautiful smile. She gave me a big hug and said:“I’m sorry. I want to be myself and your friend forever!” We cried together, ______ seeing the people walking past. She told me about her sad story, and we knew we had gone back to ______ it was before.

Now I strongly believe that distance and time can’t separate you from a friend. If you care enough about each other, friendship never fades.

In June last year, I had an opportunity to do volunteer work in a small village which is located in northern Australia, far from the cities. Living there is an experience that cannot be fully defined in just words. Although the people of this small village are short of the much material wealth that most of us in big cities have, their positive(積極的) outlook on life is comparable to what we have.

The small village suffered a natural disaster(災(zāi)難)about two years ago. Many people lost their material belongings and their houses. Soon after the disaster, families had to live under one roof in houses that were suitable for just- one family. Instead of feeling bottled in, the people felt more of sense of belonging when families had to live together in such conditions. They banded together to help each other in rebuilding their houses.

It was still beyond my understanding how family took priority (優(yōu)先) over anything else. If someone is in need, the family will provide any support needed. In cities, it is said that “Houses are getting bigger, while homes are getting smaller”. In this small village, the home will always remain big. Children are taught from an early age that family is worth more than any material wealth that they will come across. They pass the value to their kids, and the cycle continues in keeping family values.

I still remember on the third day I arrived in the small village, two elders wanted to adopt me into their tribe(宗族). As part of that process, I was given a Spirit Totem, and was told that I officially belonged to their tribe. One of the elders explained, “No one is a stranger here. You come here, and you become part of us! Can you imagine if we had that outlook in every small village or on every street on earth?

Leaving this small village was challenging for me indeed. Not only did my outlook change, but my understanding of how life can be defined in different ways took a turn for the better

A. Family values. B. Physical health.

Keep up shouting or whistling. Always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making a noise for fun.4.They will give you two shouts or two whistles. When a signal is given twice, it is an answer to a call for help.

If you don't think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house with branches(樹枝). 5.

When you need some water, you have to leave your little branch house to look for it. Don't just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop them as you walk in order to go back again easily. When you are lost, the most important thing to do is to stay in one place.
