    An 8. 1 magnitude (震級(jí)) earthquake happened in Kathmandu,the capital of Nepal on April 25th,2015. It was the worst earthquake to hit the South Asian country in over 80 years.

   Kathmandu is in a valley surrounded by the Himalayas. It has a population of 1 million people. It is a beautiful city and attracts thousands of people to travel here every year. " The aftershocks (余震) keep coming,and people don't know what to expect. When the aftershocks come,you can't imagine the fear. You can hear women and children crying," said a reporter from CNN. n All the public places are full of people who are camping outdoors. Everyone is very scared."

   Many doctors and volunteers from neighboring countries have arrived in the areas as soon as possible. So far,at least 8,000 people have lost their lives in the earthquake. The number of the injured is over 11 ,000.    " The buildings are largely built with stones and rocks,so many people have been completely buried by fallen stones and even killed," one of the Chinese aid groups said.

    The quake will likely have a bad influence on the economy (經(jīng)濟(jì)) of Nepal,which depends on tourism. Many places of interest were built in the 1800s and were totally destroyed. "We have lost our temples,our history,and the places where we grew up,M a native said.
