①No one knows when the first kite was made. The first record of a kite was more than 2,000 years ago in China. Han Xin, the leader of an army, wanted to bring down a king. He decided to dig a tunnel(隊(duì)道) into the king’s palace. He flew a kite over the wall of the palace to make sure the length(長度) of its string(線). In this way, he could ②determine how long the tunnel should be. His men in the tunnel took the kite string with them. When they reached the end of the string, they knew to dig up.
Kites have been flown in Japan for hundreds of years. In the 1700s, kites were flown in autumn to give thanks for a good harvest. They were also flown to send good wishes to couples who had their first son. Today in Japan, kites are often flown as part of a celebration, such as the beginning of a new year. And kite festivals are held each year in many parts of the country.
Kites have been used for scientific purposes in the western world. In 1752,Benjamin Franklin tied a key to a kite and flew it in a storm to find out that lightening was a form of electricity. In the 1890s,Lawrence Hargrave invented the box kite to test ideas about flight. From 1898 until 1933, the United States Weather Bureau(氣象局) used box kites to collect weather data. The Wright brothers also experimented(試驗(yàn)) with kites. What they learnt helped them make the first airplane flight in 1903.

___________________________________________________________________________
【2】 B D C A
【3】C
【4】Kites have been used for scientific purposes in the western world.
【5】From 1898.
【1】no one是沒有人,know是知道,when是什么時(shí)候,first是第一,kite是風(fēng)箏,make是制作,was made是被制作,所以綜合之后,這句話應(yīng)該翻譯為:沒有人知道第一個(gè)風(fēng)箏是什么時(shí)候制作的。
The first record of a kite was more than 2,000 years ago in China. Today in Japan, kites are often flown as part of a celebration, such as the beginning of a new year. And kite festivals are held each year in many parts of the country. In the 1890s,Lawrence Hargrave invented the box kite to test ideas about flight.19世紀(jì)90年代,勞倫斯·哈格雷夫(Lawrence Hargrave)發(fā)明了箱形風(fēng)箏(box kite),以測(cè)試飛行理念? The Wright brothers also experimented(試驗(yàn)) with kites. What they learnt helped them make the first airplane flight in 1903.
He flew a kite over the wall of the palace to make sure the length(長度) of its string(線).
Kites have been used for scientific purposes in the western world.
From 1898 until 1933, the United States Weather Bureau(氣象局) used box kites to collect weather data.

On my recent trip to Sydney with my parents, we visited the Wildlife Park.
The Wildlife Park has lots of different animals and birds. Some are native(當(dāng)?shù)氐?/span>) to Australia and can only be found there. There are over 600 animals there, including kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles(鱷魚). They are kept in their natural environment. I like the Wildlife Park better than a zoo where most of the animals are in cages(籠子).
We first spent some time with the kangaroos. We were allowed to touch and feed them. It was very exciting to be so close to them. There were koalas there too. They looked very cuddly(令人想擁抱的). Although we were not allowed to carry them, I got to take a photo with one. It is a wonderful souvenir(紀(jì)念品) of my holiday in Sydney.
The Wildlife Park has plenty of freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. Some of them are really big and scary with huge teeth! I did not want to get too close to them.
There was also a bird show. The keepers showed us different kinds they had. I
saw an old parrot which could “talk”. It made a great impression on me.
I enjoyed the trip very much. There was so much to see.
【1】The writer traveled to the Wildlife Park with his parents.

【3】The writer touched and fed koalas in the Wildlife Park.
【4】The writer liked the photo with koalas very much.

Now students English handwriting gets worse and worse. Now students’ English handwriting gets worse and worse. That makes their teachers feel worried. Is your English handwriting beautiful? If not, here are four steps that really work!
◆Use paper that has lines
Using paper that has lines can keep you writing straight when you write English words or sentences. Those lines on the paper can help you to write words in the right size. Be sure to fill the lined space completely. And make sure those capital letters(大寫字母) are written properly.
◆Slow down
If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, going slower makes the handwriting clear. If you write too fast, it’s hard for you to stop where you should, and even worse, you may make more mistakes.
◆ Hold your pencil right
When you hold your pencil the correct way, writing is much easier. Some kids press(按,壓) down really hard when they write. That makes the handwriting not nice. Try to relax yourself and don’t hold the pencil so hard. Let your writing appear nice and clean. If you do so, people will guess you are a student with a good habit.
◆Draw more pictures
Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control your pencil better when you are drawing pictures. Even though you have no chance to draw at school, you can practice by yourself at home.
Handwriting is very important. Imagine you are a world-famous movie star or a well-known sports player, what do you do when your fans run up to you? Give them your autographs (親筆簽名), of course!
