【題目】Answer the questions(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答下列問題)

Few people would disagree that email makes our lives easier. But misusing email can cause problems. Answering all those emails and processing all that information can overload(使負(fù)荷過)the brain, causing stress. So says the Future Work Center, a business based in London. This company carries out psychological (心理的) )research on people’s experiences in their workplaces.

Dr Richand Memnon at the center was the lead author of a report on messaging habits. He calls email a double-edged sword: Emails provide a useful way to communicate, but they could add to tension(緊張情緒) in the mind, causing stress. Come rain or shine(無論如何),some office workers are under pressure to read and answer emails all day long. Psychologists care about the pressure that workers bring on themselves. Dr. Mackinnon says that while email can be a valuable, time-saving communication tool, it can also be a source of stress and even anger for many of us. He adds that the stress does not come from the number of emails you get. The problems result from when and how you deal with them.

According to the study, leaving email on all day and never signing off(簽收), along with reading and answering emails early in the day and late at night, are what makes email stressful. Dr. MacKinnon says these bad email habits are linked to higher levels of stress in office workers. The report gives several suggestions on avoiding emails stress.

Use email with a plan. Do not just react to endless email. If you use email application, or app, close it down when you want to be left alone.

If you need to communicate with a co-worker, call or better still walk to their office and talk about it.

Be careful with the “ reply all” option. For example, if you are accepting an invitation to attend training, just write back to those who need to know. Trust me. Other workers on that mailing list will thank you.

And accept the fact that if a matter is urgent, employers will call you about it. Email is certainly not going anywhere, so it is important to take control of your emails and not the other way around.

1Many people disagree that email makes our lives easier, don’t they?

2Why does Dr. MacKinnon call email “a double-edged sword”?

3What is linked to bad email habits in office workers?

4What’s the purpose of giving suggestions according to the report?

5If you want to receive an invitation by email, what should you do to reply it?

6What good or bad habit of email processing have you got?

Why do you think it is good or bad?

【題目】 The world will be extremely dull if everyone in the world is exactly alike. I believe it’s important to accept people for who they are. Differences are important and they should be respected. For example, many important people throughout history were considered different, such as Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein and Abraham Lincoln. They did great things but were thought they were strange because they had strong feelings about something. I can understand these people because I’ve been in that situation before many times.

I realized that I wasn’t like everyone else at a very young age. I have been crazy about certain subjects which don’t interest other kids of my age and even my teachers. In fact, my kindergarten teacher said she would scream if I mentioned snakes or lizards one more time while she was teaching the days of the week. I would get into trouble.

In the third grade, my teacher told me that I had something like Asperger(幼兒孤獨(dú)癥).

I said, “So what? Do you know that Godzilla’s suit weighs 188 pounds?”

Later, I asked my mom, “What’s Asperger? Am I going to die?” She said that I could only see one thing at a time and it was hard for me to focus on other things.

Kids make fun of me for the things I like, people also make fun of me for knowing facts about many scientific things like cyclone. My mom says that she has been able to answer many scientific questions just by listening to what I have to say, but I’ve even been laughed at for being smart.

Maybe someday I’ll become a gene(基因) engineer and create the real Godzilla. I can dream, can’t I? Sometimes I wish I were like everyone else ... but not really, for we are different in our own ways.

1Why does the writer mention the three famous people in Paragraph 1?

A.To explain their differencesB.To show his admiration

C.To make comparisonD.To support his idea

2How did the kindergarten teacher feel about the writer?

A.AngryB.LonelyC.SorryD.Curious

3What can Godzilla most probably be?

A.A special plant.B.A clever person.

C.A cartoon character.D.A common animal.

4What’s the passage mainly about?

A.We are different in our own ways.B.Most famous people are different.

C.It’s important to be polite to others.D.We can surely realize our dreams.
