Bad breath (口臭) is a big problem. You can make people around you feel bad when you’ re talking to them.
Why do some people have bad breath? If you don’t brush your teeth, germs (細(xì)菌) will live in your mouth and between your teeth and you will have bad breath. You may also have bad breath because of foods like onions.
How can we stop bad breath? Some people say that gargling ( 漱口) can make bad breath go away, but it isn’t true. Gargling only stops bad breath for a short time. Some people also say that brushing your teeth can stop bad breath. Most people only brush their teeth for 30 to 45 seconds and it doesn’t work. To clean all of your teeth, you should brush for about 3 minutes each time.
If you don’t want to have bad breath, please look after your teeth and mouth well.

When he was teenager, Hunter Adams was very unhappy, and he spent many years in the 1960s and 1970s in a special hospital for people with mental health problems. When he left hospital, Adams decided to become a doctor, so he went to a medical school in Virginia, in America. But when he was there, he did things in different ways. For example, he didn’t like the doctors’ white coats, so he wore shirts with flowers on them when he visited his patients, and he tried to make them laugh. The doctors at the medical school didn’t like Adams very much because he was too different.
Adams believed that people in hospital need more than just medicine. He saw unhappy and lonely people, and he tried to help them, not just as patients, but as people too. He spent a lot of time with children in hospital, and often put a special red nose on his face so he looked like a clown and made the children laugh.
When he finished medical school and became a doctor, Adams opened his own hospital, called The Gesundheit Institute, with some other doctors. They wanted it to be a place with a different way of working with sick people.
Hunter Adams became famous during the 1980s, and in 1998, Universal Pictures made a film about his life. It was very successful. In the film, Robin Williams played Adams. Williams said, “Hunter is a really warm person, who believes that patients need a doctor who’s a friend. I enjoyed playing him”

Do you know what American students have to do in their schools? In America, at the beginning of the term, students must choose their courses and teachers first. While in China students usually have no chances to choose their courses and teachers.
Choosing is very important for your grades in America. So at the first term, don’t choose too many courses, or you’ll feel very nervous and it may influence your study. Then you have to ask for some teaching plans. There is some information about subjects, time arranging, marks and textbooks. At the same time, you must choose the teachers. Different teachers have different teaching methods. If the teacher is called “killer” by the last grade, many students will give up choosing him. Because this kind of teacher will leave too much homework, too many exams and give too low grades.
There is another thing after you choose the courses and the teachers. How to buy textbooks makes each student feel hard. The textbooks in America are very expensive. Each copy is about $30~$50. In order to save money, many students buy some used textbooks, and some students usually borrow textbooks from the school library. You must get enough ready before classes. In class, discussing is very important. The teacher encourages you to raise questions or show your own opinions. They don’t usually ask you to sit well. Instead they allow you to sit or stand everywhere you like. They don’t give you much homework to do. You can learn some knowledge and do exercises by yourself.
