The ability to forgive others is a great thing that can certainly help to make life happier for everyone. However, some people think that it is very 1to do, and they don’t know how to forgive others, especially their family and friends. This is all because they don’t understand the meaning of “forgiveness”.
In the dictionary, “to forgive” means “to 2feeling angry with somebody that has done something bad to you.” I’m happy that many people have 3in doing this. I have succeeded, too, and I know how hard it is.
I lived with a friend for two years. During that time, he did cause me many 4. I easily got angry when communicating with him. However, we5had a talk about our problems. When he pointed out (指出) that I wasn’t treating him like a friend, I was6. I never knew that I also needed to be forgiven for doing something wrong. I thought however 7I might get, I did love my friend deep in my heart. Then I understood the saying, “To love is to forgive.” And when we8each other, we feel great. Saturday morning was bright and fresh. There was a song in every heart, cheer on every face, and a  spring in every step.
Tom appeared with a bucket of white paint in one hand and a brush in the other. His Aunt Polly told him to paint the fence around the garden. It was thirty yards long and nine feet high. He felt very depressed.

“No, Ben, I can’t. You see. Aunt Polly wants it to be done well. Aunt Polly said that I must paint it with great care.”
“Oh, please, Tom,” begged Ben. “I can do it. I’ll be really careful. Just let me try. I’ll give you half of my apple. Well, I’ll give you all of it!”
“Well, all right, Ben,” said Tom. “You must be very careful.”
He gave Ben his brush with worry on his face but joy in his heart. He sat down under the tree, and started to eat Ben’s apple. All day, boys came to make fun of Tom, but they ended up staying to paint. When Ben got tired, Billy was waiting. He gave Tom a kite for a chance to paint. Then Johnny offered him twelve marbles, and so on.
By late afternoon Tom had gained all sorts of toys, and the fence had gained three  coats of paint. Later Aunt Polly came to look at the painted fence. She was so pleased with Tom’s work that she gave Tom a large cake!

Have you ever had the strange feeling that you were being watched? You turned around and, sure enough, someone was looking right at you!

Parapsychologists (靈學(xué)家) say that humans have a natural ability to sense when someone is looking at them. To research whether such a“sixth sense”really exists, Robert Baker, a psychologist (心理學(xué)家) at the University of Kentucky, did two experiments.

In the first one, Baker sat behind unknowing people in public places and stared(盯著)at the backs of their heads for 5 to 15 minutes. The people had to write down when they felt they were being stared at and when they weren’t. Baker found that the subjects were no better at telling when they were stared at and when they weren’t.

Baker concludes that people do not have the ability to sense when they’re being stared at. If people doubt the outcome of his two experiments, said Baker,“I suggest they repeat the experiments and see for themselves.”
