I am Tara Subra. I love my smartphone. But everywhere you look, people are glued to their screens. And we are all missing out on chances to notice and enjoy the world around us.

This smartphone addiction(成癮) is seriously affecting our ability to focus. I can’t even watch a movie without checking my phone, which means nothing ever receives my full attention. That’s scary, especially in a school. I’m afraid it changes my work and how well I learn.

My name is Alex Hager. Smarphones encourage us to think more and give us a lot of information. Say you’re with your friends and they are discussing a certain event you know nothing about. You can use your phone to learn about it, and then share that conversation.

Smarphones are also a way to find people who have the same interests and goals. For example, I love making YouTube videos, but nobody at my school does. So my phone allows me to connect with other YouTubes and learn from them.

That’s why I want you to pick up your phone, search for a person who’s talking about something you love, and start a conversation. Your world will get bigger-straight from your palm(手掌) of your hand.

1.Why can’t Tara Subra watch a movie without checking her phone?

A. Because she doesn’t watch movies.

As we know, museums are buildings with many precious and important objects(物品) from different places. They are kept so that people can go and see them. For example, art museums are places where people can learn about d1. cultures. More and more popular "design museums" are opening today, h2., play quite a different role. Unlike most art museums, the design museum shows objects that are e3. found in our daily life, such as fridges and washing machines. The a4. of design museums is that they are places where people feel familiar with the exhibits. Being different from the art museum visitors, design museum visitors s5. feel frightened or puzzled. This is partly because design museums clearly show how and why mass-products(批量產(chǎn)品) work and look as they do, and how design has i6.our lives. People can see the better changes of the products. Art museum exhibits, on the o7. hand, would most probably fill visitors with a feeling that there is something they don't understand.

Several new design museums have opened their doors in recent years. Each of these museums has tried to satisfy the public's growing interest in the field with new i8.. London's Design Museum, for e9., shows a collection of mass-produced objects from electric typewriters to a group of Italian fish-tins. The choices open to design museums seem far less s10.than those to art museum. Visitors may also sense the humorous part of our society while walking around such exhibits as interesting and unusually attractive toys collected from our everyday life.
