【題目】— Could you mind my smoking here?

— __________ . It’s a non-smoking area.

A.Not at allB.Of course notC.Yes, pleaseD.I’m sorry, but I do

【答案】D

【解析】

句意:——你介意我在這吸煙嗎?——很抱歉,我介意。這是非吸煙區(qū)域。

考查情景對話辨析。Not at all別客氣;Of course not當然不;Yes,please是的,請;I’m sorry,but I do抱歉,我介意。根據(jù)下文It’s a non-smoking area“這是非吸煙區(qū)域”,可知,是介意對方在這吸煙,所以空格處填I’m sorry,but I do。故選D。

【題目】 The Greens got a rather unhappy surprise when they tried to fly from Cardiff to Lanzarote last weekend. Because of a bad mistake at the airline check-in desk, the Greens got on the wrong flight(航班) and ended up in Ankara. So how did the mix-up happen?

It was five o’clock on Sunday morning when Charlie and Kate Green arrived at Cardiff airport with their nine-year-old daughter Tina. They checked in properly for their flight to Lanzarote, but the check-in attendant(服務員) made a mistake with their boarding passes and also sent them to the wrong boarding gate. Unluckily, it was so curly and the Greens were feeling so tired that they didn’t notice anything wrong. What was worse, there weren’t any announcements in the boarding gate area.

When the Greens finally got on the plane, Charlie and Kate Green fell asleep at once, though there were interesting films, magazines, newspapers and music for them to choose to spend the boring time. Little Tina took out a history book about Rome and read. Two hours later, she fell asleep too. They didn’t wake up until six hours later, when the plane was landing. Suddenly, the flight attendant said. “Welcome to Ankara!” The Greens couldn’t believe it and little Tina was quite unhappy. The family had to get off the plane and then pay 10 for a tourist visa(簽證). In the end, they decided to get back home, arriving at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.

【題目】閱讀下面短文, 根據(jù)短文內容完成句子。

I grew up in the 1960s. I was taught from an early age to send a handwritten thank-you note showing gratitude for kindness. My mother used to buy me a box of stationery(信紙)and teach me the value of saying “thank you”. She turned out to be right.

Amit Kumar is a professor at the University of Texas. He said that people liked getting thank-you notes. However, most of us underestimate(低估)the positive feelings they will bring. He asked volunteers how they felt after they received thank-you notes. Many said they were “extremely happy.”

Dr Kumar found that it took most volunteers less than five minutes to write the thank-you notes. Just five minutes to make another person feel “extremely happy”! Yet, in reality, the idea of getting an actual pen, writing an actual note, finding a stamp and a mailbox, never seems to come to mind. We usually do what is convenient for us—a quick text or an email.

It’s easy to say “I’m busy,” but even very busy businessmen find time to write thank-you notes. Take Doug Conant for example. When he became CEO of Campbell’s Soup, the company had lost half of its market value. It was bad for morale(士氣). He started fixing that by writing to every employee. In his ten years as Campbell’s CEO, Conant wrote over 30,000 notes in all. Not surprisingly, the company turned around.

While people always like getting thank-you notes, sending the note in time is also important. The late(已故的)Princess Diana(戴安娜王妃)was known to write a note as soon as she returned home from an event and have it posted right away.

Professor Kumar’s experiment, Doug Conant and Princess Diana prove my mother’s instruction that an expression of kindness in this fast-paced world still works. Thanks, Mom.

1The writer’s mother used to buy him a box of stationery and teach him _________.

2According to Professor Kumar’s experiment, people feel _________.

3The underlined part in Paragraph 4 probably means “ _________” in Chinese.

4While people always like getting thank-you notes, sending the note in time is _________.

5The title of passage is “ _________”.
