【答案】I have been away from my hometown for more than ten years.(此題中的more than可改用over)

【解析】

此句強(qiáng)調(diào)主語(yǔ)的動(dòng)作從過(guò)去到現(xiàn)在持續(xù)了一段時(shí)間,應(yīng)用現(xiàn)在完成時(shí)(have/has +過(guò)去分詞),而且與延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞連用;主語(yǔ)是I,故用havebe away(from)離開(kāi),延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞,be過(guò)去分詞been;more than/over意為“超過(guò),多于”;for more than/over ten years十多年。故答案為I have been away from my hometown for more than ten years.(此題中的more than可改用over)

【題目】 What color are icebergs (冰山)? White or blue? Surprisingly, there are green icebergs in Antarctica (南極). Their unusual color has confused scientists for years. But scientists have finally solved the mystery of the green icebergs.

Icebergs are large pieces of ice in the sea. Icebergs form after breaking away from glaciers (冰川).

Most icebergs are white. There are also many icebergs in Antarctica that are blue. Glacial ice has a lot of small air bubbles (氣泡). The icebergs appear to be blue because the air bubbles reflect blue light.

However, there are no air bubbles in green icebergs, which means these icebergs are made out of sea ice rather than glacial ice.

But why does sea ice look green? Scientists at the University of Washington, US, recently found the reason--- iron oxide (氧化鐵). It comes from rock dust found on the Antarctic mainland. After studying the green icebergs, scientists found that they have 500 times more iron than glacial ice. The iron comes from bedrock in the ocean. When glaciers grind (碾磨) against bedrock, a powder (粉末) that is rich in iron is created. The powder later mixes with ocean water, which then freezes as green sea ice, Stephen Warren from the university suggested.

This is an important finding because these green icebergs can deliver iron to far parts of the ocean. There, tiny sea plants use the iron as a nutrient (營(yíng)養(yǎng)物). We thought green icebergs were interesting. But now they may actually be important.

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的選項(xiàng)中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項(xiàng),并在答題卡上將該項(xiàng)涂黑。

American and British people both speak English of courseBut sometimes it does not seem like the same language. In fact, there are some important differences between British English and American English.

1 Often, Americans don’t say each word separately. They say several words together. Americans may say “I dunno” instead of “I don’t know”. Or they may say “Whaddya say?” instead of “What did you say?” However, the British are more careful in their speech. They usually say all the words and keep them separate.

Sound is not only the difference between British English and American English. Words sometimes have different meanings tooSome American words are never used in England. The same thing is true of some British words in America.2 Americans drive trucks, but in England people drive lorries.

3In England, if you are going to telephone your friends, you “phone them up”. In America, you “give them a call”. When you are saying goodbye in England, you might say “Cheerio!.” In America, you might say “See you later”.

There are also some differences in grammarFor example, Americans usually use the helping verb “do” when they ask a question. They say “Do you have a storybook?” But the British often leave out the helping verb.4

All these differences can be confusing if you are learning English. But most languages are like this. Languages change over time. When people live in separate places, the languages change in different waysThis is what has happened to English.5Many people in Canada speak French but their French is very different from the French of France.

A.It can also happen to other languages, such as French.

B.For example, the vocabulary for cars and driving is very different.

C.They say “Have you a storybook?”

D.First of all, they sound very different.

E.Many expressions are also different in the two countries.
