【題目】From Baby’s Doodles (亂涂) to Mother’s Paintings

It all started by accident (偶然) when Eve discovered her mother’s ink pen and loved using it.

Eve’s mother, Ruth is so artistic that she is able to change Eve’s random (隨意的) lines into shapes which are easily recognized (辨認(rèn)). A random curve (曲線) becomes an elephant’s ear, and crooked (彎曲的) lines become the branches of a tree. Nothing seems to escape her eye — she can see and paint the outline of a woman’s face or the hooked nose of a bird where most people would just see meaningless scratches (亂涂亂畫).

Since then, the mother and daughter have worked together on several quite attractive pieces. The process begins with Eve using a black ink pen to make her “sketches” (草圖). Later, Ruth takes over with her water-colours, quickly turning the doodles into a “grown-up” painting.

“All of the pieces are completed within 30 to 60 minutes, the reason for this is that I don’t want to give myself any room to over analyze (過度分析) or second guess,” Ruth wrote on her blog.

According to Ruth, children can help bring out creativity in adults. “As we get older, we tend to (趨向于) create a box that everything is supposed to fit neatly into. As a child, there is no box. It is just endless freedom to explore any and every possibility of creativity and adventure,” she said. “I feel so blessed that my daughter can remind me once again what it is like to paint like a child.”

1What does Eve NOT draw using her mother’s ink pen?

A. The Branches of a tree.B. Crooked lines.

C. Meaningless scratches.D. Random lines.

2What’s the process of Eve’s sketches to her mother’s painting?

Ruth spends within 30-60 minutes turning doodles into a painting.

Eve uses a black ink pen to make her sketches.

Ruth takes over with her water-colours.

A. ③②①B. ①②③C. ②③①D. ②①③

3How does Ruth think of children and adults?

A. Children are more creative than adults.

B. Adults are more creative than children.

C. Children tend to over analyze something.

D. Adults explore any possibility of adventure.

【答案】

1A

2C

3A

1根據(jù)第二段A random curve (曲線) becomes an elephant’s ear, and crooked (彎曲的) lines become the branches of a tree.可知Eve畫的有A random curve以及crooked (彎曲的) lines,以及本段最后where most people would just see meaningless scratches (亂涂亂畫).所以B,C,D 都有提到,而A選項(xiàng)是經(jīng)過Eve媽媽的加工而形成的畫,故選A。

2根據(jù)The process begins with Eve using a black ink pen to make her “sketches” (草圖). Later, Ruth takes over with her water-colours, quickly turning the doodles into a “grown-up” painting.

可知首先是Eve用筆畫他的草圖,然后Ruth用她的水彩接著畫,很快就會把一個涂鴉變成了一幅畫,故選C。

3文中提到According to Ruth, children can help bring out creativity in adults.所以在她看來孩子比成年人更有創(chuàng)造力,故選A

I remember looking at my dad as an eight-year-old kid and saying, “I want to be Michael Jordan one day.” Dad laughed a bit and then turned to me and said, “Son, I love you, but you’re probably not going to be Michael Jordan.” Then my dad pointed to the man standing next to Jordan at the time, his agent (經(jīng)紀(jì)人) David Falk. During the off-season, I try to make sure players’ lives are managed, so they can focus on (專注于) improving on the field.

Not everyone can be a sports star, but it’s more than possible to work on the business side of sports. I always tell the students I meet to go out of their way to introduce themselves to people. Relationships are so important in this business, and they can take you a long way.

【題目】Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Italy. He is best known as an artist today. One of his famous paintings is called Mona Lisa. However, Leonardo had many other natural abilities. He was also a great inventor. Many of his inventions have become important in modern day life. Although Leonardo hated war, he invented many different machines used for wars. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced and used in war many years later.

By watching the way birds fly, Leonardo tried to find out the secret of flying. Among his sketches(素描) we can see several objects. We consider them as modern flying machines. Leonardo spent many hours thinking about how to make good use of time. He developed ideas for labor-saving machines like cutting machines.

Leonardo was a strange man. He didn't eat any meat, which was unusual in those times. He never published his ideas and scientific discoveries. He usually used mirror writing, which looks like writing in a mirror, starting from the right side of the page and moving to the left.
