BEIJING--Lights went out for an hour at some famous landmarks and homes all over the world on March 28 for Earth Hour 2010. It is a global event created by the WWF(World Wildlife Fund) to make people pay more attention to climate change.

Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, the Bird’s Nest in Beijing and many other famous buildings in China also joined in this event.

He Junquan is a Chinese swimmer and has won many Paralympic(殘奧會(huì)) gold medals. Born in Jingmen, Hubei province, He Junquan was a healthy boy. But one day at the age of three, he climbed up to the high-voltage electricity(高壓線) box and lost both of his arms forever. He became a disabled boy!

They also say when it comes to save energy and money, big changes start with small steps like turning out the lights. Now people are all joining together in a global effort to show that it’s possible to work on global warming. Earth Hour has brought about some new changes to our lives. People join in activities such as candle-lit dinners and star-gazing parties as a response to the call for "going dark".

 This year , Earth Hour is asking people to take the next step and go beyond one hour.
