【題目】任務(wù)型閱讀,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容完成下表,每空一詞
If you are asked to chair a meeting, remember the following six golden rules for meeting management.
Always start the meeting on time. If you begin on time, group members who show up late will realize the value of time. Beginning on time shows the skill as an effective time manager and sets an example for others to follow.
Select a note-taker or have the meeting recorded. You may need to go back to something that was discussed during the meeting at a later date. Good record-keeping is a sign of a good meeting manager as well.
Learn to listen. So many times we think about what we are going to say and, in the process, miss important points that other group members may be contributing (做貢獻(xiàn)). What’s more, we often hear only what we want to hear, instead of really listening to other people. Meetings with effective listening are successful meetings.
Keep the discussion on track(軌道). Many times an important topic can get sidetracked(轉(zhuǎn)變?cè)掝}) in a meeting, especially when everyone has a different opinion about the topic. Ask members who have different opinions to meet with you after the meeting. Doing so will help keep the discussion on track and reduce the chances of wasting group members’ time of great value.
Give everyone an opportunity to be heard. Some people like to control meetings, while others wait to be asked their opinions. As the leader of the meeting, you need to keep an open mind and make sure everyone feels welcome to contribute and express ideas freely.
End on time. If you said the meeting would last no longer than one hour, make sure the meeting lasts for only one hour. Running late with a meeting makes members late for other appointments, increases the chances that the members will mentally leave the meeting and reduces your reliability as an effective meeting manager.

Jane Austen (1775-1817), an English novelist, started writing young and completed six novels in her life.Today Austen’s books are more popular than ever.In the last 10 years, five of her six novels have been made into Hollywood films, while her books continue to be best-sellers.
Richard Jenkyns, a professor of English at Oxford University, says that her novels are about marriage, friendships and the family, which are still with us today.“The stories are timeless,” Jenkyns said.
Pride and Prejudice(偏見(jiàn))(1813) is Austen’s most famous work.It is a love story about Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy.At first, these two dislike each other.Elizabeth is pretty, smart and lively. She is proud because Darcy doesn’t know about her family.Mr.Darcy is handsome, rich and has a better family background. So, he is proud as well.At the same time, Darcy holds a prejudice against the Bennet family. He has no understanding of why the family, especially its mother and daughters should try so hard to find wealthy and powerful husbands. He thinks they arevulgar.Anyway, Elizabeth and Darcy finally fall in love and become a romantic couple(夫妻) but their families don’t want them to.
In Pride and Prejudice, some of the main things that Jane Austen wants to teach people are as follows.Opposites can attract(吸引) each other.Lovers should not only make each other feel relaxed or comfortable, but also educate and improve each other.
Austen os often called the greatest romantic writer, so it is surprising she remained unmarried.‘Maybe she was too romantic, waiting for the perfect man,” Jenkyns says.

【題目】A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow(烏鴉) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(鄙視).
“You have no flying skills at all!” he said to the swans. “All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, you can’t. Let’s have a flying competition. I’ll show you what real flying is!”
One of the swans, strong and young, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He showed flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.
Now it was the swan’s turn. He flew up, and began flying over the sea. The crow flew after him, making all kinds of comments (評(píng)價(jià)) about his flying. They flew on and on till they couldn’t see the land and there was nothing but water on all sides. The crow was making fewer and fewer comments. He was now so exhausted that he found it hard to stay in the air, and had to try to keep himself from falling into the water.
The swan pretended (假裝) not to notice, and said, “Why do you keep touching the water, brother? Is that another trick?”
“No,” said the crow. He knew he had lost the competition. “I’m in trouble because I am proud! If you don’t help me, I’ll lose my life…”
