Sitting still and keeping quiet seem like what students should do in class. However, putting your feet on the table, using iPads, eating and drinking may also take place in school. Americans are famous for their casual (隨便的) style.
I didn't think it was a big deal until I arrived in the US.
I was told sitting still is what you should do in middle school. That is a traditional Chinese way to show that we are paying attention to what the teacher is saying. Meanwhile,it doesn’t seem to matter in the US. When I first saw a student lying on a sofa,I was shocked and thought the teacher might feel offended (被冒犯了的) ,but she didn't. She just smiled and kept talking. Then I got used to it,and enjoyed the relaxing and comfortable position in class.
Also,we don't have uniforms at school. We can wear whatever we want. And teenagers here feel free to eat breakfast, snacks, and drink soda while teachers are talking. Teachers won’t feel upset and may even eat with them.
American teachers chat with students in class. It makes us feel closer to them, although it does mean we go off topic easily. In comparison,Chinese teachers are strict, but it helps us to focus on our task.

With rising food prices, growing population and environmental problems, many people are worrying about how we will feed ourselves in the future.
Some scientists believe insects will become a staple (主 食) of our diet. Insects provide as many nutrients (營養(yǎng)物) as ordinary meat and are a great source of protein (蛋白質) . About 1,400 species are suitable as food for humans. Many people already eat insects as a regular part of their diet. Wasps (黃蜂) are a dish in Japan, and crickets (潘縛) are eaten in Thailand.
In the future, land and fresh water will be in increasingly short supply. It is possible that people need to find a reliable food source in the ocean. Scientists have already found one at the bottom of the food chain — seaweed. It has long been a staple in Asia, and countries including Japan have huge seaweed farms. The great thing about seaweed is that it grows at an amazing rate.
Scientists are also working in the lab to solve the problem of food shortage. A few years ago,European scientists successfully produced lab meat, also known as cultured (培養(yǎng)的) meat. The experiment was funded by NASA to see if lab meat was a kind of food astronauts could eat in space.
