【題目】Did you know that you could expect to live almost 20 years longer today than someone who was born 100 years ago?

Thanks to the development of science, life expectancy (預(yù)期壽命) in most countries has been increasing(增加,增長(zhǎng)) for ten years. But researchers believe we have finally reached our biological limit (生理極限).

A report in the magazine Nature says it is almost impossible our life expectancy will increase again. The oldest person to ever live was a French woman Jeanne Calment, who was 122 when she died in 1997. The report says she will probably remain the oldest, because it is almost impossible that anyone will live over 115. The “absolute maximum age (絕對(duì)最大年齡)” may be 125, according to the report, but it is not very possible that anyone could actually live that long.

Jan Vijg at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York led the research. His team studied the age of people who had died in America, Britain, France and Japan. They found that the age of the oldest people dying had increased regularly between the 1960s and 1990s. But beginning in the 1990s, “you no longer see that,” Vijg told NPR. “You see that it stays the same.”

Of course, many scientists and companies are still trying to find ways to increase our lifespan (壽命) over 125. But there is one simple way to make sure you live a healthy and long life. “Stop smoking, start exercising and eat healthily,” Professor Dame Linda Partridge, told CNN. “What will be will be. It’s only a question of when.”

1What did researchers find?

A. The oldest age is increasing year by year.

B. People who were born 100 years ago usually live longer.

C. People now are not stronger than those born 100 years ago.

D. It’s almost impossible that human’s life expectancy will increase.

C. was 122 years old D. died 20 years ago

3According to the report, people may not live longer than _____ years old.

4Which of the following is true according to the article?

A. The research studied people from different countries.

B. The oldest age stayed the same from the 1960s to the 1990s.

C. With the development of science, people will live longer and longer.

D. If we live in a healthy way, we will definitely have a chance to live over 125.

Paperless homework will affect students’ handwriting

A growing number of primary schools in Shanghai are now encouraging “paperless” homework. Instead of writing with a pen, children can finish their homework simply by “surfing and typing” on their iPad screens.

Many people welcome the use of this new technology in schools. And it isn’t difficult to understand why digital homework could be the next big thing in education: it reduces waste; makes it easier for teachers to collect homework; and now that everything else is digitalized, homework should too.

But there’s an overlooked downside to online homework, as it shows an alarming trend(趨勢(shì)): how technology is affecting physical handwriting.

In today’s digital age, handwriting is already a weakening skill. Can you remember the last time you used a pen? For me, it was when I had to fill out a form at work. To be honest, I couldn’t write quite a few characters and had to type them on my iPhone to remind me of how to write them correctly. I know I’m not alone. There are more saying they share similar embarrassment (尷尬) when asked to write by hand.

In a time when computers, smart phones and keyboards are widely used in the world, is handwriting even important? The answer is yes. Handwriting plays an important role in the learning process. Writing a character is more difficult than typing. It requires the body and mind work together actively. So for school-age children, writing not only allows them to memorize characters, but also trains their brains the way typing can’t.

Too many children, lost in technology, lie on a sofa or in bed with their smartphones or iPads — a seldom mentioned side effect of modern technology, which may lead to physical problems later.

All said, I’m not saying that digital homework should be canceled. Digitalization is an unstoppable trend. But for courses such as Chinese and English language, I hope to see digital homework introduced later into the courses, at least after children have had the ability to write characters and spell words well.

【題目】In the west , some people believe that people’s character can be predicted according to the time of the year the person was born. From China comes the belief that the year of birth influences one’s character . In the past century, a new belief has come up, the idea that character is related to one’s ABO blood type. People with blood type A , for example, are considered more likely to be serious ,hard working and quiet, while people with blood type O are likely to be popular and out-going, yet often unable to finish what they start. Though this belief continues to be strong, some people doubt whether it is true.

The blood-type character theory(理論)started in Japan in 1927, when Furukawa Takeji noticed character similarities and differences among persons. The idea soon went out of fashion, but was brought back by a Japanese television host named Toshiitaka Nomi in the 1970s. The belief is still strong in Japan and is popular in neighboring countries. Some young Koreans have taken to the theory. A recent study showed 76 percent of Koreans aged 13 and 64 believing in the blood-type character connection.

Though most Asians might believe in it, for many it seems harmless and not something to be taken seriously. It is also possible that people are easy to change their characters to match the blood-type theory. Is the belief true? In the 1980s, the scientists in Asia largely negated the belief as a superstition(迷信). Most studies have failed to find any strong connection between blood and character. Generally, scientists are against making important decisions based on this theory.

1What does the underlined word “predicted ” in the passage mean Chinese?

A. 預(yù)測(cè)B. 提醒C. 預(yù)告

2In which country person predicted his character according to the year of his birth?

3According to the blood-type theory ,what is the person with blood type A like?

A. A person with blood type A can have many friends.

B. A student with blood type A may usually get good marks.

C. A person with blood type A is fond of talking with others.

4Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

A. The blood-type character theory(理論)was started by a scientist named Toshiitaka Nomi.

B. After about 10 years, scientists in Asia proved the blood-type theory was wrong.

C. After some young Koreans took to the theory, 76 percent of Korean teenagers believed in it.

5The best title for this passage should be _____.

A. Information about different blood types.

B. The connection between blood-types and characters.

C. The development of the character theory.
