Everyone has got two personalities(性格)--the one that is shown to the world and the other that is secret and real. You don’t show your secret personality when you’re awake because you can control yourself, but when you’re asleep, your sleeping position shows the real you. In a normal night, of course, you often change your sleeping positions. The important position that best shows your secret personality is the one that you go to sleep.

If you sleep on your stomach, you’re a person who likes to keep secrets. You worry a lot and you’re always easily becoming sad. You never want to change your ideas, but you are satisfied with your life the way it is. You usually live for today not for tomorrow.

If you sleep curled up(蜷縮),you’re probably a very nervous people. You have a low opinion of yourself and often protect yourself from being hurt, so you’re defensive. You’re shy and you don’t usually like meeting people. You like to be on your own.

If you sleep on your side, you have usually got a very well-balanced personality. You know your strengths and weakness. You’re usually careful. You have a confident personality. You sometimes feel worried, but you don’t often get sad. You always say what you think, even if it makes people angry.

A wild baby bison (野牛) at Yellowstone National Park had to be killed because of tourists.

The tourists thought that the baby bison looked cold. They put it in their car and drove to a park ranger (管理員) station.

A ranger described the action of the tourists as a “dangerous move” because adult bisons can look after their babies very well and they will attack (攻擊) to protect their young.

Park rangers took the animal from the car and set it free. But, sadly, the baby was refused by its family because it had the smell from humans.

Yellowstone National Park explained on Facebook that the smell from people can cause parent animals to refuse to accept their young. The park tried again and again to make the baby bison lives with its parents. After several times they had to give up.

Many people expressed anger at both the tourists and the park.

The park said that they did not have the ability to care for a young bison. They also said that it is “not the task of the park to save animals”.

The tourists were fined (罰款) $110 for touching park wildlife. Park rules say that visitors to Yellowstone should stay at least 22 meters away from all wildlife, and at least 90 meters away from bears and wolves.

One ranger said that Yellowstone recently added many safety signs that say staying near the wildlife there is dangerous to humans and animals as well. Those signs are written in English and other languages.

There’s always hope

I was sitting around the other morning thinking about some of my former(以前的) students. When I do that, my thoughts always turn to Vincent.

Eighteen years ago, on the first day of third grade, when I had my class write something about themselves, he just sat there. So I took him outside to see what was wrong. “You can ___________about something else; anything you want.” I offered .He turned to me and shouted,” I can’t write!” and threw his pencil.

Vincent was difficult and _________ .He acted out. He threw things. He refused to work, to be quiet, to sit down.

So these many years later, I wondered what he was up to. With time on my hands, I googled him and looked him up on Facebook and before long I found him .And after a few texts we agreed to meet. And he told me his _________.

Vincent knew he was smart, but he also knew he couldn’t do what other kids did. He had to move around and talk. For him, sitting still, listening and reading, didn’t __________. The more he tried to do the things on his terms, the more we forced him to do the things on our terms and the angrier he got. The angrier he got, the more trouble he got into.

In other words, we __________ him.

But he wouldn’t let me tell him that. He took full responsibility for his behavior. He remembered feeling _________ for acting out.

That __________ me. Kids like Vincent are always angry about something ;they hold the world responsible for the consequence(后果).

This story also had one of us turning Vincent around. But none of us did that for him. There were no excellent teachers like Annie Sullivan or Jaime Escalante. That didn’t mean we didn’t ___________. I remember countless conversations, trying to understand them, going to his little League games.

It was Vincent who turned Vincent around , along with a junkie (吸毒者) house painter he worked with after failing through high school. This guy clearly scared (驚嚇) him straight; talked him into going to ___________.

But it was Vincent who attended classes and got straight A’s for two years .And it was Vincent who got accepted into ten different universities, including Stanford and UW. And it was Vincent who landed a great job at a big tech company.

Vincent is completely different from 18 years ago. I couldn’t be happier for him.

And for me, the ___________is simple but powerful---there’s always hope.

1.A. talk B. read C. write D. hear

2.A. angry B. lazy C. careless D. disappointed

3.A. job B. story C. school D. family

4.A. arrive B. change C. work D. end

5.A. forgot B. helped C. freed D. failed

6.A. proud B. special C. natural D. terrible

7.A. attracted B. encouraged C. surprised D. influenced

8.A. try B. wait C. learn D. succeed

9.A. movies B. business C. college D. sports

10. A. rule B. memory C. answer D. message
