What Is Self-tracking All about
Perhaps you’ve tracked(觀測(cè)) how many kilometers you’ve run, how many hours you’ve slept or how much you’ve eaten in a day.
If so, you’ve taken part in a popular movement called the “Quantified Self Movement” or “Self-tracking”. Maybe you’ve wanted to change a bad habit but couldn’t. Self-tracking may be your answer. The idea is to collect information about your everyday activities and analyze(分析) them to help improve and form a healthier lifestyle.
Recently, tools such as smartphones, apps, along with newly published wearable things, are making self-tracking easy. Today, one can use Fitbit, the Jawbone Up, Google Glass or a smart watch to record personal data(數(shù)據(jù)) including sleeping hours, stress levels, heart rate and mood.
So why does a person self-track? Someone may be trying to lose weight or improve their sleep. Another person feels tired after eating. Self-tracking could help him to know what foods make him sleepy and watch his diet.
Tracking daily activities isn’t a new concept. In years past, athletes and their coaches kept notes food, training and sleep in order to achieve an athletic goal. Similarly, doctors have also helped patients to record parts of their lifestyles and eating habits to help fight health problems. However, it wasn’t until 2007 that magazine writers Gary Wolf and Kim Kelly created the term (術(shù)語(yǔ)) “Quantified Self” or “self-tracking”.
Although self-tracking has many advantages, Dennis Nash, president of Data Speaks Health Solutions, says self-tracking has its disadvantages. Once people start tracking their daily activities, it can become an extra task people like to do often. Also, they might begin to worry too much about their health.
Though self-tracking doesn’t make sure that one’s quality of life will improve, it can encourage people to make healthier choices.

Choose the best answer(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,選擇最恰當(dāng)?shù)拇鸢福?/p>
The koala is unique (獨(dú)特的) to Australia and is an important symbol of the country. The koala is found in open eucalypt (桉樹(shù)) forests in south-east Queensland. Even if it is called koala bear, this animal has nothing to do with the actual bear. Koalas have thick fur and large cars.
Their broad, flat nose makes them look cute, similar to teddy bears. In fact koalas aren’t cute. They have sharp teeth and very sharp claws (爪)! Koalas are marsupials (有袋類). This means the mother carries her baby in a pocket while it develops, similar to a kangaroo. The baby koala lives in its mother’s pocket for the first six months of its life.
The name “koala” comes from a native Australian word that means “no drink”. The koalas get almost all their water from the eucalyptus leaves they eat. That’s where they get their food too.
Koalas eat only eucalyptus leaves. The eucalyptus trees are where the koalas live, it’s also where they sleep. Koalas sleep about nineteen hours a day!
Why do they sleep so much? Some people think it’s because they’re lazy. But koalas aren’t lazy. They sleep so much because there isn’t much nutrition (營(yíng)養(yǎng)) in eucalyptus leaves. Koalas store hardly any fat, so they must save their energy. One way to do this is to move slowly and sleep a lot. After a day of sleeping they like to move around and eat just after sunset. They live alone most of the time. Koalas are very protective of their trees. If a koala sees another koala eating in its favorite tree, it might tell the other koala to leave by “barking” at it. Koalas do “talk” to each other.
Besides barks, the males make a deep grunting (呼嚕的) sound.
The mothers and babies talk in soft clicking sounds. If they get scared they may scream like a baby. The koala is also an excellent swimmer.
They are able to cross rivers to escape from heavy flooding (泛濫).
