Visit to Florida

My favorite place to visit is Florida. There are a lot of fun things to do there. This March, I went to Florida to visit my relatives.

I have two sides of family. My mom’ s side lives in Minnesota. For my dad’s side, it’s a little different. They all started in New York, and then they all moved to Florida except my uncle. He teaches English at a high school in New York. My family lives in Minnesota with my mom’s side. So we often take vacations to Florida.

There are some “must-do’ s” in Florida. Going to the beach is one of them. Everyone loves the beach, because we can go fishing and swimming there. There are many big theme parks and these are my favorites. Another thing to do is going to the Port St. Lucie County Fair. I went to a rodeo (競技表演）for the first time. It was great.

One of my favorite hobbies is fishing. One morning my dad and I went fishing with my grandpa, and my twin cousins. I caught an octopus (章魚)! It was really exciting. I think everybody should try deep-sea fishing. It is wonderful.

My favorite programs

Many people think that TV programs have little or no educational value (教育意義).It is true that lots of programs are meaningless. However, some programs are good and we can learn many things from them. Here are a few of my favorite programs.

Blue Peter

As a child，this was the only program I could watch. I watched it three times a week. You can learn about different countries around the world from it. As the show is for children, the language in it is easy.

The Great British Bake Off

This show is about making bread, cakes and so on. The show wants to find Britain’s best amateur baker (業(yè)余烘培師).You can watch the show to get some ideas of new things to try baking and you can always find the recipes online.

Frozen Planet

This one is about life in cold places. There are many special animals on this show. I love this show not because of the cute animals, but because it teaches us about the impact we have on these animals and what we need to do to save them.

Pointless

This show is great for making you think. It is a quiz (知識競賽) show. It may be about sports, weather, movies and so on. I learnt lots of things from this show.

“One of my actors is sick! He has just one line and you're the only one who fits his clothes!” One afternoon, the school drama director suddenly shouted to me. She seemed so nervous and worried that I felt sorry for her and said, “OK”.

I apologized to everyone after the play. To my surprise, they were not angry with me. They told me, “It's all a part of being on stage.” I could be wrong, but I think I liked being on stage. I think I will try again.
