Look it up!
Here are two articles from an encyclopaedia.
Da Vinci, Leonardo
Leonardo da Vinci (1452-519) was an Italian painter, inventor, musician, engineer and scientist.
Da Vinci was born in the countryside. From an early age, he showed great intelligence and artistic ability. As he grew older, he learnt to do many different things. His paintings are very famous, and one, the Mona Lisa, is perhaps the most famous painting in the world. He also had many inventions. For example, his notebooks include some interesting drawings of flying machines. (See Art)
Dinosaurs lived on Earth more than 60 million years before human beings. They lived everywhere on Earth. Some dinosaurs were as small as chickens. Others were as big as ten elephants. Some could even fly.
Many dinosaurs ate plants. However, some dinosaurs liked to eat meat.
Dinosaurs live on Earth for more than 150 million years. That suddenly they all died out. Nobody knows why. However, we can lean about them from their fossils. (See Earth history)
1.What does the pronoun “it” in the title refer to?
2.What is the painting in picture a? Who painted it?
3.Why did the author mention Da Vinci’s paintings and inventions?
4.Could some dinosaurs fly?

A mouse was surprised and frightened to discover that the farmer and his wife had a mousetrap(老鼠夾)in the house. It ran to warn everyone, “There is a mousetrap in the house!” and wanted to get some help from them.
The hen raised its head and said, “Mr. Mouse, this mousetrap is only for you. I won’t be worried about it.” The mouse turned to the pig, “I am sorry, Mr. Mouse, but the mousetrap has nothing to do with me, either!” the pig said. Then the mouse turned to the cow. “It sounds like you have a problem, not me,” the cow said. The mouse returned to the house with head down and it was very sad because no one would help it.
That night the farmer’s wife heard a loud sound and she rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness she could not see that it was a snake. The snake bit(咬)the farmer’s wife. The wife caught a bad fever and the farmer thought the best way to treat a fever was chicken soup. So the farmer killed the hen for the soup. The wife got worse and her friends came to visit her. The farmer had to kill the pig to feed them. But the wife didn’t get better and died. Her friends came and the farmer had to kill the cow to feed all of them.
So remember when any one of us is in trouble, we may all be in trouble.
根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,回答下列問題。

The ostrich is the largest bird in the world. The ostrich is found in nature in Africa, but it is raised all over the world for its meat.
The ostrich is a unique (獨(dú)特的) looking animal. It has long skinny legs, a big body with small wings, a long neck, and a dangerous long beak (喙). Even though it has wings, it can’t fly. But they aren’t completely useless either. They help a lot with balance when the ostrich is running quickly and needs to change directions(方向). The ostrich usually weighs between 200 and 300 pounds and can grow to 9 feet tall. Its large body is covered with feathers.
The ostrich is famous for its speed on the ground. Its powerful legs allow it to reach speeds of 40 miles per hour! Ostriches can also use their strong legs to kick any enemy or even kill a human or a lion. However, in most cases the ostrich will just use its speed to run away from any danger.
Ostriches eat whatever they can find. This includes plants, insects, and small animals like lizards. They often live in groups. A group will have around ten birds, but some groups even have 100 birds. This way the whole group can help to protect the eggs. Ostrich eggs are the biggest eggs of any animal at an average of 3 pounds.
Ostriches don’t actually put their head in the ground as many cartoons like to show. What they really do is to lie down and put their head and neck flat on the ground to hide. From a distance all you can see is their body, so it appears as if they have put their head in a hole in the ground. Ostriches can not only kick with powerful feet, they are also armed with 4 inch long claws (爪) on their feet.
