【題目】 In the future, people may travel to Mars (火星) by water-powered spaceship! Today's spaceships are fine for getting things into space, but they are not so good at travelling long distances. These spaceships burn chemical fuels (燃料) and they are very expensive. Scientists say that a water-powered spaceship could make the trip to Mars much cheaper. The idea is just in the planning stages now, but scientists think such a spaceship could be developed soon.
The key to the water-powered spaceship is the engine (發(fā)動(dòng)機(jī)). Regular engines push spaceships by burning fuel. The water engine will use steam, created by solar panels (太陽能板) that heat water to a high temperature. Of course, the spaceship will have to carry a lot of water for the long trip to Mars.
Today's spaceships could not carry that much water. But scientists think that a spaceship blown up like a balloon will be able to.
One US company has already developed a spaceship like this. These spaceships are made of a strong material. Two of them have already been sent up into space, using rockets and then later filled with air. "Balloon" spaceships could be very large and carry enough water for a long trip. With the "Balloon" spaceships, enough water could be carried to power the engines and grow food during the trip. And the people on the spaceship might even get to take a hot bath!
Scientists say the biggest advantage of such a spaceship would be cost. The "Balloon" spaceship uses water to push it through space and costs about one thirtieth of a normal spaceship. Such savings naturally encourage continued research into balloon spaceships and water engines. If these scientists are correct, we may soon be on our way to Mars in a spaceship powered by water.

【解析】
本文介紹了水力飛船的原理和優(yōu)勢(shì)。
【1】
主旨大意題。根據(jù)In the future, people may travel to Mars (火星) by water-powered spaceship,可知,本文主要介紹了在未來,人們可能會(huì)乘坐水力飛船去火星旅行,并介紹了這種飛船的原理和優(yōu)勢(shì)。故選B。
【2】
詞義猜測(cè)題。根據(jù)上一句“Today's spaceships could not carry that much water.”可知現(xiàn)在的飛船是不能攜帶太多的水,而新的飛船是可以的,故劃線處后面省略的是“carry that much water”。故選D。
【3】
細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)And the people on the spaceship might even get to take a hot bath,可知,宇航員甚至可以用剩下的水來洗個(gè)熱水澡。故選A。
【4】
推理判斷題。根據(jù)In the future, people may travel to Mars (火星) by water-powered spaceship,可知,本文主要講述的是在未來,人們可能會(huì)乘坐水力飛船去火星旅行,并且下文介紹了水力飛船的原理和優(yōu)勢(shì),這些是有關(guān)“宇宙飛行”的內(nèi)容,所以我們可以從“宇宙飛行”的網(wǎng)站看到這篇文章。故選D。

【題目】 Why do we need to throw less away? There are two reasons. One is that some resources(資源) are nonrenewable(不可再生的). That means there is only a certain amount of that resource in the world. One example of this is oil. When we use up all the oil in the world, there will be no more.
There is another reason for throwing less away. All of our trash has to be put somewhere. Often, it is put into garbage dumps(垃圾場(chǎng)). Much of that trash will be there for hundreds of years. The dumps will be filled up with all this trash.
There are three ways to cut down on trash.
One way is to recycle. When you recycle something, it means it is made into another shape and used again. Old newspaper may become paper bags. A glass jar can be melted(熔化) and made into a bottle.
Another way to cut down on trash is to reuse things. You can wash and use again a bottle that can hold mustard(芥末醬) or something else.
The third way to cut down on trash is to reduce the amount of trash you make, stop buying thing that you don’t need in the first place. That reduce the amount of the earth’s resources that you use.

【題目】 In the 13th century, Marco Polo, the world known Italian traveller, saw many wonderful things in China. One of the things he discovered was money made of paper. People in the West did not have such kind of money until the 15th century. 【1】
Paper was invented by a Chinese man called Cai Lun almost 2,000 years ago. But it was not made in Europe until the year 1100. Four hundred years later, a German discovered that he could make the best paper from trees. 【2】
Paper can be used in many ways. The common uses include newspapers, magazines and books. But do you know that paper can be used for keeping warm? In Finland, the farmers wear paper boots to keep their feet warm in the snow. And even houses can be insulated (使絕緣的) from heat or cold with paper.
However, we have to understand that paper still comes from trees now. 【3】 Every day people throw away about 2,800 tons of paper in our city. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting down nearly 48,000 trees every day. The fact is that it takes more than 10 years for a tree to grow.
【4】 We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can make useful things out of used paper. We can use china cups instead of paper ones. When shopping, we can use fewer paper bags and reuse them if we have some.
In short, we should keep a balance (平衡) between using paper and protecting trees, and do it now before it is too late.
A.So we must start saving paper right now.
B.If we keep on wasting so much paper, there will not be any trees left on the earth some day in the near future.
C.However, the Chinese began to use it in the 7th century.
D.So it is the right time to stop making paper from trees.
E.After that, countries rich in forests, such as Canada, Sweden, America, Finland became the most important ones in paper making.
