Maslenitsa is an ancient celebration marking the return of spring. In Russia, people celebrate it for one week every year at the beginning of March. If you go to Japan in early May, you will see colorful carp flags in the sky. The flags fly to celebrate Children’s Day, which falls on May 5th. In some places, people start to fly their flags in April. Families that have boys will usually fly the flags outside their homes. They also put warrior ( ) dolls around their homes.
