Choose the best answer(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,選擇最恰當(dāng)?shù)拇鸢福?/p>
A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking is worth reading, especially for those who love science, space, physics, and the universe (宇宙). About half of Hawking’s text is rather hard to understand, which must be the reason why he added pictures to newer editions. Some of the “abstract (抽象)” things are hard to imagine, so the pictures help you understand.
This book is based on theoretical physics (理論物理). Most people read the cover and think that it will be way over their heads, but it’s not. There are two ways to read it. You can read the chapter overviews, which are basic and you’ll still learn a lot, but it won’t be too difficult. Or, you can read the full details (細(xì)節(jié)) in each chapter, which is how you’ll learn the most.
This book makes references (參考) to other physicists, history, and current social and economic issues (問(wèn)題), and explains how each of us is involved in the universe. Dr. Hawking also openly says “I think” about things. He gives his view on matters and shows the facts to help you see what you think the answer is, so it seems as if (好像) he was talking directly to you.
The reason why I love this book more than any other physics “text” is because Dr. Hawking wrote it like a novel. He’s telling a story, the story of the universe, and it’s just fun to read!
I always want to know how and why something is, and in this book Dr. Hawking always answers this question as best he can. If he can’t give you a definite answer, he’ll tell you what he thinks and help you develop your own opinion. I truly hope that you will read this unusual book.
1.Stephen Hawking added pictures to A Brief History of Time to ________.
A.make it more attractive to readers B.make it easy to understand
C.help you to develop your imagination D.show you more about the universe
2.The underlined phrase “over their heads” in Paragraph 2 means “________”.
A.higher than their heads B.rather difficult for them to understand
C.very easy for them to read D.too high for them to reach
3.If you ________, you’ll learn the most about the book.
A.read the full details in each chapter B.read the chapter overviews
C.draw pictures according to the book D.read the cover of the book
4.What makes you feel as if Dr Hawking was talking directly to you? ________
A.He tells me what he thinks and helps me develop my own opinion.
B.He openly says “I think” about things.
C.He always answers how and why something is as best he can.
D.He gives his view on matters and shows the facts to help me see what I think the answer is.
5.According to the writer, A Brief History of Time is ________.
A.expensive B.boring C.interesting D.confusing
6.We can get the idea from this passage that ________.
A.Hawking doesn’t answer all the questions about the universe
B.the book can’t make references to other physicists
C.the book doesn’t deal with the economy but science
D.Hawking can talk to everyone face to face

For convenience(方便). plenty of people prefer having a takeaway(外賣(mài))to cooking at home. Now there is an app through which people can enjoy delicious and cheap takeaway food.
Too Good To Go, an app being used in the UK, allows users to order leftover(剩余的)food at a low price from restaurants. The purpose is to cut down on food waste, as lots of restaurants usually throw away the food that can still be eaten at the end of the day.
Users just need to pick a restaurant and pay through the app. Then they pick up their food at planned times usually around closing time or after peak (高峰期的) meal times.
"Food waste is one of the biggest problems we have in this world," one creator of the app said. "The restaurant industry is wasting about 600,000 tons of food each year." By the end of August, Too Good To Go had helped save about 600 meals in the UK.
Users also have the choice to give meals to people who are in need by donating one British pound or more through the app. By the end of August, more than 1,100 meals had been donated.
Too Good To Go isn't the first app to try to deal with food waste. In Spain, the Yo No Desperdicio app allows people to exchange leftover food with each other. In the US, the Food Cowboy app allows food shops to sell "ugly vegetables" that most customers don't buy to charities and food banks that need them.

In the last century, differnet natural disasters have robbed several cultural heritage(遺產(chǎn)) from us. On WeChat, some people say, “What a pity that we cannot see the damaged parts of the wonders anymore.” But people can see them in a new way---through a video game. In this game, the player can travel to one city after another and enter the buildings exactly like they are in reality, and see the wonders as they were before the fire.
Maybe digital technology(數(shù)字技術(shù)) could help protect cultural heritage better. This idea dates back to the 1990s and the necessary technology has continued to develop since then. By scanning(掃 描) the ancient buildings, building 3D models, as well as measuring everything, engineers can make a copy exactly as the real one.
As computers and smart phones are popular, the digital copy has great value. First, it allows tourists to feel the cultural heritage without touching them, which helps protect them. The virtual tour of Dunhuang Grottoes(敦煌石窟) is a good example of this as tourists can view the paintings without standing near them.
Second, it can make the cultural heritage more famous by spreading information about them through the internet. In 2000, a virtual tour of the Dunhuang Grottoes became very popular at the Hannover World Expo, which increased the number of foreign tourists visiting the site in the following years.
Last, it stores all the information of the cultural heritage. Even if the real ones are damaged one day, people can still know what they were like and can build a new one if wanted. Of course, however exact a model, it is not the real one.
Maybe we will have better technologies in the future, but the digital technology offers a practical way to protect cultural heritage at the moment.

3.The writer uses the example of Dunhuang in Paragragh 3 and 4 to .
A.show the writer is really interested in travelling to Dunhuang
B.prove people can build a new one if the real ones are damaged
C.show Dunhuang Grottoes are disappearing because of the disaster
D.prove computers and phones makes digital copies more valuable
4.What is the writer’s attitude(態(tài)度) towards the digital technology?
