Then there are always people to 12 to if you feel like a chat.

This March, the H7N9 virus (病毒) hit Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and so on. It seemed that most people who were infected(被感染) with H7N9 had the common flu. Some people suffered from a fever or a cough.
Don’t be afraid—it’s not easy to be infected with the virus. Here is some advice to help you protect yourself when it comes.
Wash your hands. You need to wash your hands with soap and hot water before you eat, after you use the toilet, and after you touch animals, because your hands may carry viruses.
Cover your nose and mouth. When someone sneezes(打噴嚏) or coughs, flu viruses can travel as far as one meter through the air, so you’d better stand a proper distance (距離) while talking to someone who has a cold. And always cover your mouth and nose with a piece of paper when you sneeze or cough, and then clean your hands.
Wear a mask(口罩). Some doctors say that masks can stop the flu as much as 80%, but if
you don’t wash your hands often, it’s no use wearing a mask. And it’s necessary to wear the mask in the groups of people.
Do sports often. Exercises will help make your body strong enough to resist the virus.

A group of swans flew down to a beach where a crow(烏鴉) was jumping around. The crow watched them with disdain(鄙視).
“You have no flying skills at all!” he said to the swans. “All you can do is to move your wings. Can you turn over in the air? No, that’s beyond you. Let’s have a flying competition. I’ll show you what real flying is!”
One of the swans, a strong young male, took up the challenge. The crow flew up and began to show his skills. He flew in circles, performed other flying tricks, and then came down and looked proudly at the swan.

April 22 is Earth Day. Everyone on Earth should care about and protect the earth!
The earth has warmed by about 1°F (華氏度) over the past 100 years, but why and how?
Well, scientists are not quite sure. Maybe the earth gets warmer and warmer on its own. But many scientists say that people are doing many things which makes the earth warmer.
First, greenhouse effect (溫室效應) is a very important reason for the change of the earth. People give out too much energy into the air every year. It makes the earth warmer. Climate (氣候) change is another important reason. Sometimes it becomes too hot and sometimes too cold. Sometimes there is too much rain and sometimes too little. The change of the climate makes the earth warmer. In turn, the warmth of the earth changes the climate, too.
When the earth becomes warmer, there may be more rain and a rise in sea level. It will affect the growth of plants, animals and people. On a Pacific island, 100 people have to move to higher ground because the sea is rising. These people can no longer live on the coast. Before that, two islands without people went underwater in 1999. Scientists say that the seas can rise by nearly one metre by 2100.
People can affect the earth's air, land and water. As for us, we can do many things to protect the earth. For example, we can use fridges less. We can tell more people about protecting the earth.
小題1:Earth Day is probably set for people to ______.

C.take better care of the earth.D.study the warmth of the earth

______ now.
A.not very clear B.completely secretC.well knownD.not given yet

小題4:The passage mainly tells us that ______.

In some science fiction movies, evil robots refuse to die, no matter how hard people fight back.
Now science fiction has become science fact. For the first time, scientists have made a robot that can take a beating and keep on going. Scientists from Cornell University made the robot, which looks like a spider with four legs.
Until now, even the most advanced (先進的) robot was almost certain to break down when it was damaged (毀壞). That is because its computer inside simply doesn’t know how to make the machine work after its shape has changed.
To deal with this problem, the scientists put eight motors (發(fā)動機) and two sensors (傳感器) that read how the machine is working. They all give signals to the machine’s software. Using this information, the computer can then figure out the machine’s shape at any moment.
The new technology is a big advance in robot-making, scientists say, and it’s far from scary. It may someday help scientists create better artificial (假的) arms and legs and give new freedom to people who lose them. It might also help scientists understand how people and animals figure out their own sense of place in space.
“It has been difficult to design robots that can work well when the environment changes or when it’s damaged,” says Olaf Sporns of Indiana University in US. “With this work, we are nearer to solving this problem.”
小題1:Why do robots easily break down when they are damaged?
A.They cannot repair themselves.
B.The computer has changed a lot.
C.They have no computers inside.
D.The computer cannot work if the robot changes.
小題2:The new technology(技術) allows the robot to        .
A.keep working after being damaged
B.tell people where it is
C.do house work for humans
D.remember a lot of information
小題3:The underlined word “them” in Paragraph 5 refers to       .
A.sensors B.robotsC.scientistsD.arms and legs
小題4:How do the sensors in the robot work?
A.They can replace the computer when it’s broken.
B.They help the computer learn the robot’s condition.
C.They can find out where the damage comes from.
D.They can send signals to the person who uses the robot.
