【題目】閱讀理解
Dear Edward,
How are you doing? I just visited Machu Picchu in Peru today. I've never seen such a great place before. This place is so amazing that I want to share my feelings with you.
When I first got to Machu Picchu, I felt like I was walking in the sky. Even the clouds were just under my feet. Do you know how high Machu Picchu is? I was surprised that it was at about 2,500m. How could people build a city on such a high mountain? It must have been very difficult to move stones there.
Before the Europeans arrived, the Incas (印加人) were the last and the most modern society in the Andes (安第斯山). The Incas were afraid that the Spanish would find them, so they built Machu Picchu on an Andes plain (平地) as a secret city in the 14th or 15th century. As a result, the Spanish never found Machu Picchu.
An American explorer discovered Machu Picchu in 1911. For a long time before that, nobody even knew Machu Picchu was there. After Machu Picchu was found, it was called “The Lost City of the Incas”. It is still a mystery why and how Machu Picchu was left and forgotten by everyone.
I just had a wonderful day. Especially, I will never forget the “goodbye boy” who was a local boy dressed in traditional Inca clothes. When we went down the mountain by bus, the boy waved goodbye to us until we were out of sight (視線). He shouted some words at us too, and I guess, it meant, “Goodbye, come back again soon!” Why don't you visit Machu Picchu someday? I am sure you will love this place as much as I do.
Yours truly,
Lynn

by who life take that serious or one they send happy influence |
I once had an unforgettable experience that has affected and directed the way I think and act now.
When I was about seven years old, my grandfather me to a fish pond on a farm and told me to throw a stone into the water. He told me to watch the circles created the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone. “You may create lots of circles in your life, but the waves come from those circles will disturb (干擾) the peace of all the people around you,” he said . “Remember that your circle may spread to many other circles, meaning that your thoughts or actions may disturb others' . You are responsible for what you put in your circle. If you want, the good or peace that comes from your circlesto others. At the same time, the anger or jealousy (嫉妒) coming from your circle will also spread to other circles. You should allow the good feelings others, not the bad ones, because you are responsible for both.”
That was the time I heared my grandfather tell me these. I had realized that each person's or anger can move out into the world. If we are filled with doubt or anger, we cannot create world peace. We spread the feeling and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak or not. These circles are spreading into the world. Creating beauty or making troubles to other circles of life.

People had to go there to make calls to faraway people and the fees were very high. Later, a cellphone was developed in 1973 in America. It was one of the most useful inventions. People can use cellphones to communicate with others much more easily. They can take them anywhere to make private calls, even vision calls (可視電話). At first, TV sets only broadcast black - white pictures. Several years later, colored TV sets made the pictures lively. However, they were heavy and thick, so it was difficult to move them. Then, digital TV sets came into being. They are light and thin. Many TV programs are available (可獲得的) at any time. At present, people can use the IPTV( 網(wǎng)絡(luò)電視) to record and replay programs. |

In the 1950s, desktop computers were invented in the same country. They became smaller and could be put on the desk. Since then, they have become very important in many fields of work and leisure. Before the 1970s, the computers were single. It was the Internet that joined the computers into a big family, so they could share information with one another.
