任務(wù)型閱讀

Do you go to school by bus? It is very important for you to know how to be safe when taking a bus, no matter whether you like it or not.

First, don’t run to the bus stop, but walk. While you are at the bus stop, you should wait in a safe place. Do not run or play while waiting. And never get into a car with a stranger.

Second, don’t talk in a loud voice when you are on the bus, so the driver will not be disturbed(打擾). If you need to talk with the bus driver, you’d better wait until the bus stop. Never throw things on the bus or out of the windows. Never play near the emergency exit(緊急出口). When there is a fire, the most important thing is to break the window with a hammer or any sharp things and then jump out.

Third, when you are getting off the bus, make sure you walk(not run) three more steps away from the door. This is the best place to be around a bus. Stay away from the bus wheels and watch out for moving cars!

Last, if you leave something on the bus, never return(回到) to the bus to get it. The driver may not see you come back and he may begin moving the bus. Also, if you drop something near the bus, tell the driver before you try to pick it up, so he will know where you are.

18.As an English,I can speak three languages-English,German and French,so do you think the British people are very good language learners? The fact is that they aren't.
Some statistics (數(shù)據(jù)) from the survey done by the European Commission (歐盟委員會)showed that
62% of the British people only speak English.38% speak at least one foreign language and 18% speak two or more.Compared with the British people,56% of the people in other European countries speak at least one foreign language and 28% speak two or more.
From this you can see that the British people are famous for not speaking foreign languages and that they are not good language learners in Europe.
And the survey also showed that English is the most widely-spoken foreign language.
Many European people can have a conversation in English. That's why my people don't think it is necessary to learn a foreign language.
In Britain, students are not required to learn a foreign language. That means learning a foreign language is only an option at school. In UK schools it is common for children to start learning a foreign language at 11 and many of them give it up at 14.So why don't students continue learning foreign languages at school?Because they think it is more difficult to get good marks in languages than in other subjects such as science or history. To solve this situation, the British government is looking for different ways to improve language learning at school.One way is to start learning it at a much younger age.Another one is to give school children more choices.
Changing the British attitude (態(tài)度) to learning foreign languages may be a hard task but the government decides to try!

14.C
China has ended its long-lasted one-child policy,all Chinese couples now are allowed to have two children,which means that many Chinese children,including you,may have siblings (兄弟姐妹) in the future.
Like many only children in China,Pan is happy and confident,except when she feels lonely every now and then."It's not fun,especially when I travel with my parents.How I wish I could have a brother or a sister,"she said.Now it could be time for Pan to realize her dream.But what would it be like growing up with a sibling?
Having a sibling can prevent children from bad feelings such as loneliness and fear,according to Laura Walker from Brigham Young University,US."Siblings give kids something that parents can't,"she said.
You may not feel lonely because there is someone else to play with.You can also talk about various things and share secrets with each other.
But children with siblings also have to control their feelings and learn to compromise,said Laura.You need to share things with your siblings,including attention from parents,toys,the bathroom and even the TV.There is also unpleasant competition which you have to deal with.
It's also said that the birth order decides how parents treat their children.Parents are usually very nervous and strict with their first child.So firstborns (including only children) have more sense of responsibility because parents set high goals for them.When the couple has a second child,they are more relaxed,less strict and have fewer rules.So late-born kids are usually funny and creative.
