Bananas don’t grow on trees. They grow on a stalk (稈) that looks just a little like a stalk of corn. The stalk is soft enough to be cut with a k1..
It takes about a year before bananas are ready to be picked. Some are as small as fingers. Others are as long as men’s arms. Some banana plants grow as tall as a house — even taller!
Not all bananas are eaten as fruit. Some never get sweet, and they are cooked as a kind of v2..
People in most countries never see a banana until it reaches the store. But if you visited a country where it’s hot and rains a lot all the year, you might see a banana plantation, a large farm where bananas grow.
The tasty fruit doesn’t come from a seed but from a root planted deep in the ground. First, a stalk pushes up into the air. Then leaves grow. In the beginning the banana plant grows very f3. — sometimes as much as the length (長度) of your feet in one night. Earlier this year, China achieved a new landmark in space exploration. On Jan 3, Chang’e 4 became the first space probe in history to successfully land on the far side of the moon, People’s Daily reported.
From Earth, we can only see one side of the moon. The other side has been a mystery. Scientists have long wondered what is on this side of the moon.
Chang’e 4 can’t communicate with Earth directly. But Queqiao, a reply satellite(中繼衛(wèi)星), can help us stay in touch. Queqiao was sent into space in May. After Chang’e 4 landed on the moon, it took pictures and sent them back to Earth through Queqiao.
Chang’e 4 has sent back photos of the far side of the moon. It is also being used to carry out experiments, such as growing seeds in a low-gravity environment. The data(數(shù)據(jù)) collected from these experiments could be used to help us build a base on the moon in the future.
The success of the Chang’e 4 mission is a major achievement for China’s space program. It marks a new stage in China's deep space exploration, said Wu Yanhua.
China launched its lunar exploration program in 2004, naming it Chang’e. Chinese scientists set three goals — “orbiting(環(huán)繞運行), landing and sample returning” — referring to launching probes that could circle around the moon, touch down on its surface and bring lunar materials back to Earth.
Chang’e 4 has realized the second goal. The third will be achieved during the Chang'e 5 mission, which is set to take place before the end of this year, China Daily reported.
Following the success of the Chang’e missions, Chinese scientists are looking even farther into(調查) our solar system. China’s first Mars mission is expected to be carried out by 2020, Wu said.

3.What does the underlined “it” refer to in Paragraph 5?
A. The Chang’e 4 probe. B. A base on the moon in the future.
C. China's space program. D. The success of the Chang’e 4 mission.
4.What’s the third goal of Chang’e?
A. Circle around the moon. B. Bring lunar materials back to earth.
C. Send people to the moon. D. Land on the surface of the moon.
5.What can we infer from the passage?
A. Chang’e 5 will be China's last lunar exploration program.
B. China has not launched any space probes to Mars so far.
C. Chang’e 4 has uncovered the secrets of the far side of the moon.

Have you ever stayed deep underground in a cave? You have no food and the oxygen(氧氣) is running out. You're not even sure if anyone knows you're down there.
A soccer team of 12 young Thai boys, as well as their coach, had to go through this experience this summer. They became trapped in a cave in Thailand on June 23, spending 18 days inside until they were saved by an international team of divers(潛水員). After hearing the news that a former Thai Navy SEAL(海 軍海豹突擊隊員)died while trying to save these kids, my friends and I talked about the situation and felt as if there might be no way to get the children out.
But we held out hope anyway. We refused to give up hope for these kids, even when the situation seemed quite dark. We were rewarded(獎勵)for our hope when they were finally saved.
It can be hard to hold out hope in dark times. Every day, we read or hear about the terrible things that happen in the world. This makes it hard for us to stay positive. Some people go through their lives thinking that the worst is always just around the corner.
However, I believe that it's especially important to stay positive during difficult times. This is the best way to deal with the challenges that we face in life. As people often say: there is always a light at the end of the tunnel(隧道).

B.a man died when he tried to save the kids
C.the writer and his friends also joined in the rescue efforts
