【題目】 What does it take to graduate from university? Some papers or high scores in exams? Well, these are not enough if you are a student at Tsinghua University.
According to a new rule of the university, students must prove themselves in the swimming pool. They need to pass a swimming test of at least 50 meters, and those who fail the test will be required to take a swimming course throughout their school years. By the time they graduate, they will have known how to swim; otherwise they can't graduate with their bachelor's deegrs(學(xué)士學(xué)位).
The news made waves in Chinese social media(媒體). Some people praised the university for requiring a necessary skill that can save lives, and they also believed that the rule would help improve students' health. However, others questioned if it was fair to expect those who come from inland cities(內(nèi)陸城市) to be able to swim.
In fact, this is not a new rule. Tsinghua University first made swimming a requirement in 1919 but later gave it up because the number of students became too large and there were not enough swimming pools in the school for them to learn swimming.
Anyway, it is sill good news that Chinese students' health has become more and more valued.
Why not just take this chance to learn one more life-saving ability?

【題目】 The first place I can remember well was a pleasant field with a pond of clear water in it. Trees made shadows over the pond, and water plants grew at the deep end. On one side was another field, and on the other side we looked over a gate at our master's house, which stood by the roadside. At the top of our field were more tall trees, and at the bottom was a fast-running stream.
While I was young, I lived on my mother's milk, but as soon as I was old enough to eat grass, my mother went out to work during the day and came back in the evening. There were six other young horses in my field, although they were older than I was. We all galloped (飛馳)together round the field, and had great fun. But sometimes the others would kick and bite.
"They are young farm horses and haven't learned how to behave," my mother told me. "You are different. Your father is well known, and your grandfather twice won the most important race at Newmarket. Your grandmother was quiet and gentle, and you have never seen me kick or bite, have you? I hope you will grow up to be gentle and a willing worker, and never bite or kick. "
I have never forgotten my mother's advice. She was a clever and sensible(明智的)old horse.

For example, some are interested in animals, some in history, and some are interested in literature. Mine is science. I like it because it's fun and educational.
My favorite novel is Around the World in Eighty Days. It was written by Jules Verne, a French writer. Jules Verne was regarded as father of Modern Science Fiction because he devoted (奉獻(xiàn)) himself to literature and wrote several well-known scientific romances.
