I’m Rik Mayall. I enjoy all the parts T ve played, especially people who aren’t very nice, such as Alan, the politician(政治家) I played in the TV comedy The New Statesman. Some people loved him,but there were others who were against the program. They thought it was wrong to make jokes about politics on television. I haven’t seen that comedy for years. I don't think they could repeat it because many of the jokes were from that time. Sometimes comedy dates, though the basic idea behind it can be true of any time.
I do a lot of film work and still enjoy playing funny characters on TV,but I prefer theater. I need a live audience(現(xiàn)場觀眾) to keep going. If I choose a favorite part,it would be Henry in A Family Affair,a play we performed all around the country several years ago. It’ s a comedy^ directed by a good friend of mine. It’s about a family who meet to celebrate a birthday, and all kinds of things happen ,一 things that could happen to anyone, anywhere. That's why it's so fUnny.
I really liked playing the part of Henry because in some ways his personality is similar to mine. Henry’s a bit lonely and behaves very badly at times. I was very happy when the writer of the play saw it and congratulated me. He said I was exactly the same as they had imagined Henry. Although the play is a comedy,it includes serious messages, such as how thoughtful people can be. It's very true to life and that’s why I like it.
