Dear Ms White,

I used to have a lot of problems and I always tried to fix them.I used to do badly in English. To fix it,I read English newspapers and went to the English corner to improve my English. Now I'm quite good at it.I used to be weak. Then I ate right and joined a sports club. Now I'm strong and healthy.I used to be afraid of speaking in public. So I took part in all kinds of school activities. Now I'm outgoing and everyone likes making friends with me.

But now I have a problem that I can't fix.I have the ugliest nose in the whole world! It's not only fat but also big! I want to have a nose job(鼻子整形),but how can I get my parents to agree?

Yours,

Ann,12

Dear Ann,

It sounds like you're a really proactive(積極主動(dòng)的)person, always fixing problems. That's good, but when it comes to things like your nose, you have to stop.It sounds to me that you're looking for things that are wrong with your body. That's very dangerous. Also,I'd like to point out that nobody is perfect.A nose doesn't reflect who you are,so there's no need for you to feel bad about yourself at all.

In my opinion,as a student, you should pay more attention to your schoolwork instead of your looks.

Best wishes,

Ms White

Now there is a family problem.Nearly every parent says that we never grow up.In fact,we are probably 16 or 17 years old.In their eyes,we are always little ones and often do wrong things. For example, when I need to stay at home alone, they always worry about me and my life without them.

Most parents always think that they have offered the best things they can to make their children live in a comfortable world. They buy their children pretty clothes, cool shoes, expensive school things, and often a thousand-yuan-cost bike. They think that they have done everything that they can for their dear children. In return, they only want their children to get good results in the exams.

But why still can't their children understand them? Does it mean that we still want more material things? No.As a matter of fact, what we want is a true family. What does a true family mean? I think it means a place where we can hide ourselves from the cold world outside. From the place,we can get warmth,we can get consolation(安慰),and we can get happiness. And one important thing is that we should be stronger and more confident in the outside world because we know that we have a true family.

So I think that parents should sit down to talk with their children to let them know that they have a true family,so the children and their parents could understand each other. Then, parents will not treat their children as little ones.

根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,完成下列句子,每空詞數(shù)不限。

1.In the eyes of most parents, children never ___ __and seldom do__ ___.

2.Most parents always think they___ ___the best things they can for their children to live in the world.

3.Children still____ ____their parents because what children need most is not material things but __ __ __.

4.Most parents want their children to get ___ __in the exams while their children want to get ____ ___ _____ ______from a true family.

5.The way to__ ___ __between parents and children is that they should have more communication with each other. Then,no children will ___ __as little ones.
