My Life in Junior Middle School

I have studied in my junior middle school for three years. My life in junior middle school was rich and I have learned a lot.

Stephen Hawking was born in England in 1942. He is one of the most well-known scientists on space and time in the world. Hawking is researching how the universe began and how it ends. He is called the King of the Universe.

When he studied math and science at Oxford University, he became seriously ill, which made him unable to speak or breathe without the help of machines. Till now, he can’t move or feed himself and he is helped to dress, eat and wash by a nurse. However, he has a wheelchair with a special computer, with which he can communicate with others.

In spite of all these difficulties, he refused to give up his hope of living and went on to study at Cambridge University after graduating from Oxford University. In 1965, he got a Doctor’s Degree of philosophy(哲學). Because of his serious illness, it was difficult for him to draw diagrams or to write. So he started to think in pictures. With this new way of thinking, he is respected by people in the world. Then in 1988, he wrote his first important book, A Brief History of Time. It has been sold more than 5.5 million copies in 33 different languages. He was once invited to China to give lectures. His self-confidence and humorous conversations impressed us deeply.

From Hawking’s unusual experiences , we learn that nobody should lose hope, no matter how bad the situation is .As he once said, “Life is not fair, you just have to do the best you can in your own situation.”

The International AntiDrug(禁毒) Day this year is coming soon. In order to raise teenagers' awareness(意識) to fight against drug taking, the City Art Council is going to hold a painting competition for the students in our city.

Students who want to take part in the competition can hand in their own 2D paintings in either of the following two ways：

★Each school will be provided with a box for students to put in their paintings. Boxes will be picked up by the City Art Council on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, before the end of the school day.

★Paintings can be also handed in on Friday, June 24th, from 8：00 am to 10：00 am at the Woodlands Art Hall (175 Riverside Street)．

All paintings are required to be 60cm wide by 80cm long or smaller. Larger sizes will not be accepted. Each student can only hand in one painting.

The final decision on the competition results will be made on June 26th, the AntiDrug Day. The name list of the winners will be made known on the website of the City Art Council on the same day. All winning paintings will be shown to the public at the City Youth Park from June 27th till the end of July.

It was one of the hottest days of the dry season. We had not seen in almost a month. The crops were dying. If we didn’t see some rain soon, we would lose everything.

I was in the kitchen that day when I saw my son, Billy, walking toward the . Trying to be as still as possible, he was obviously walking with great . Minutes after he disappeared into the woods, he came running out again, toward the house. Moments later, however, he was once again walking in that way toward the woods. When he stood up and began to turn back, I was there in front of him. His little eyes were filled with tears. “I’m not ,” was all he said.The week before, he had made the same trouble with our horses, which caused him a lecture from his father about the importance of not wasting water.

This time, I him, with a small pot of water from the kitchen. I let him take care of the baby deer alone for it was his job.
