I took a wonderful trip with my family when I was ten years old. I remember it well. My aunt, uncle and cousins lived on a little farm in the country outside Rome and they invited us to visit them. These cousins are the same cousins who live in Miami now. Our trip to visit them a long time ago was very different from our recent (最近的) trip to Miami.
It was a Saturday morning when we left home. We got up early that morning before the sun rose. We were sleepy, but we were excited and ate breakfast quickly. We left home at five thirty in order to get an early start. It took us three hours to get there in my father's old car. When we drove up to the house, everyone ran out to greet (歡迎) us.
We stayed for two days and had a wonderful time. We played outside all day and helped uncle feed the chickens. He taught us how to make wine. At night, we listened to the grown-ups (成年人) tell stories about their childhood.
When it was time to leave, we were very sad. They begged us to stay longer, but we had to leave. My father had to go to work the next day. As I look back, that trip was a long, long time ago. My aunt and uncle are both dead; my cousins are living in Miami.

Amelia Earhart made several flights across the United States, and on each occasion (場(chǎng)合) she set a new record for flying time. Television was not invented by one person. It took many years and many different people to make television work.
A lot of work on television began in the 1930s. England set up the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) at this time, and in the United States, the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) began.
In 1936, the CBS put 150 televisions into homes in New York City in order to see if all of the televisions were able to get a show at the same time. This first television show was Felix the Cat.
Much of the work underway at the BBC during the 1930s and 1940s came to an end because of World War Ⅱ. After the war, the BBC fell behind work on television going on in the United States. England had to rebuild (重建) itself after the war.
By 1945, there were 10, 000 televisions in homes in the United States. This number climbed to 6, 000, 000 by 1950 and then to 60, 000, 000 by 1960.
