Do you get angry when your friends sing loudly? Or when your best friend does not wait for you
after school?
If you do, you need to control(控制) your feelings and stop getting angry so easily. Getting angry
easily can make you lose friends.
Gary Egeberg, an American high school teacher, wrote My Feelings are Just Like Wild Animals
to help you control your feelings. It tells teens how to stay cool when bad things happen to them.
The book says that getting angry only makes problems worse. It can not make them better. "Getting
angry is not a natural way to act", the book says. It is just a bad habit, like smoking. The book says
you can control your anger easily, and all you have to do is to tell yourself not to be angry.
When a baby falls over, it cries only when people are watching it. Like a baby, you can only
get angry if you are sure it is the right thing to do.
The book gives many suggestions to help you if you get angry easily. Here are the top three.
①Keep a record. Every time you get angry, write down why you are angry. Look at it later
and you will see you get angry too easily.
②Ask your friends to stop talking to you when you get angry. This will teach you not to be
angry.
③Do something different. When you get angry, walk away from the problem and go
somewhere else. Try to laugh!

Group Helps Others to Build Houses
TEPETITAN, EL SALVADOR- Evinor Mira is only sixteen years old, but he is working as hard as an
adult man to help his family get a good house. Evinor lives with his mother and his little brother and sister in
Tepetitan, EL Salvador. His father is dead, and the family is very poor. Their house is a small one of mud
(泥土) and sticks, so Evinor is working with an organization called Habitat for Humanity to build a new home.
Habitat for Humanity helps people who need houses but do not have much money. Each family buys the

lend money to other families. Habitat for Humanity volunteers help to build the house, but the families must do
a lot of the work themselves.
Every morning, Evinor begins at 7:00. He and the volunteer workers from Habitat carry boards (木板),
pound nails (敲釘子), and pour concrete (混凝土) all day, six days a week. The other workers can go home
and rest at 4:00 p.m., but Evinor's day isn't over. He rides on a bus for forty minutes to go to school in another
town. He is in high school and attends classes for four hours every evening. At 9:00 p.m. he has to walk two

home and does his homework. On Sundays, Evinor works with the Habitat organization to help other families
get houses, too.

At table, when the hostess (女主人) picks up her napkin, you may pick up yours and put it on your legs.
If a servant (傭人) passes food around, he will pass the dish to you at your left hand so that you can easily
serve yourself with your right hand. Never serve yourself while the dish is on your right; it is then the turn of
your neighbor on the right.

pass it to you.
There are things in the middle of the table, such as bread, butter and candies. You shouldn't take any until
