【答案】
Dear friends,
Welcome to our school. Now new school year has begun. You have become senior high middle school students.
As high school students, you have some problems to deal with. First of all, you should get your study hours well arranged, balancing your schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Make sure that you have enough time to improve your studies and that you take an active part in out of class activities in order to keep fit. Then our teachers, parents and society bring too much pressure for us to bear so we should learn to relax ourselves by reading a book, enjoying a good film with friends or listening to popular music. Finally, we should learn to improve our ways to study so that we can adapt ourselves quickly to the new school life. I hope all of you will enjoy the upcoming brand new school life.
Thank you!

學生在寫作時要注意用平時在課本中或是閱讀中積累的單詞句型來自如的表達自己的意思,本文運用了deal with, take an active part in,keep fit, bring too much pressure for的短語。本文也有很多句型值得學習,如balancing your schoolwork and extracurricular activities. 運用了非謂語形式,we should learn to improve our ways to study so that we can adapt ourselves quickly to the new school life.目的狀語從句,這樣文章才能寫出新意。并且使用了一些如First of all, then,F(xiàn)inally等連接詞使文章的結(jié)構(gòu)更合理,開頭Welcome to our school以及結(jié)尾的I hope all of you will enjoy the upcoming brand new school life.表達了對新生的歡迎和希望,符合本文語氣。

【題目】Last fall, beekeepers from states with warm climates began to report a sudden loss of honey bees.Losses were reported in twentyfour states and spread to Canada.Today, some beekeepers say thirty percent to ninety percent of their honey bees are gone.Food price could go up as a result. And some beekeeping businesses have failed.
Many kinds of plants, trees and grasses need bees to pollinate them.Bees gather nectar from flowers during this process. The liquid gives them food and material to make honey. As the bees land on flowers, their bodies pick up and drop off particles of pollen(花粉).Most flowering plants need pollination to reproduce.
Honey bees can die during the winter. But few dead bees have been found this time.Instead, the bees seem to have disappeared.Experts call the condition “colony collapse disorder”.
Agriculture Department official Caird Rexroad said the colony collapse disorder threatens about fifteen billion dollars worth of the country's farm economy.Mr.Rexroad commented at a hearing of a House of Representatives agriculture subcommittee.
Mr.Rexroad said the cause of the sudden loss of bees was not clear. The number of honey bees had already fallen before the colony collapse disorder began.
Experts say the varroa mite is at least partly responsible for the earlier decrease in honey bees. The mite is a tiny creature that feeds on honey bees.It may play a part in colony collapse disorder by carrying bee viruses.Or the problem may be caused by other disease and weather conditions.
Diana CoxFoster of Pennsylvania State University is part of the scientific group.Ms.CoxFoster says the nation needs honey bees that can defnd themselves better against disease and insects. The recent mapping of most of the honey bees' genes offers the hope of a stronger honey bee some day.

A.they want to make more money by doing something else
B.the climates were too warm to raise bees last fall
C.too many bees have disappeared for no reason

How to Release Creativity
According to most dictionaries, creativity is the ability to create. However, creativity is more than what is defined by the dictionary. It is an idea, a process, a thought, or a state of mind. One cannot learn to be creative because creativity is natural and unique to each individual. People should know that creativity doesn't equal success. It equals the act of expressing. So, if at first the goal that is aimed for is not achieved, there is no need for worry or frustration.
Creativity can, however, be released by discovery. Some people need encouragement to help release their creativity. There are quite a few ways to release it.
One way to release creativity would be to look for what can inspire you. Looking at the world and admiring the differences in people and places help. Creativity can be drawn from their beauty. A person can touch, taste, smell, hear, and see hundreds of different objects. Aromas from foods, textures of blankets, and sight of unusual objects can all give inspiration.
Many people are too concerned with how things should look. The focus should be on how it actually looks in the raw, to the human eye. Colors and shapes can be distorted(扭曲) by the mere fact that people want others to see it for what it is. It's more difficult for someone to let go of all that and just let their creativity flow, unblocked.
Another way to get creativity flowing is to research what other artists have done or are currently doing. Their cultures and biographies alone can be an inspiration. Examining their works can help some appreciate artistic expression. New techniques can even be drawn from their works.
Some people are even inspired by everyday events, like reading the newspaper or watching the news. Some can take other people's situations and describe how it makes them feel. That is a way to release creativity. Controversial issues, such as war or abortion, can inspire writings like poems. They can be used to express death, loss, or tragedy. General topics such as religion or politics can branch off into many directions, sending creativity into overdrive.
Creativity is not about reaching a goal or being a perfectionist. It's about being, feeling, and taking all that is inside and letting it out in one way or another. Creativity is not always expressed by paintings, drawings, or writings. One's action is the main form to express creativity. Romance, for example, is a form of creativity. Love and emotion are inspired by one person for another. Taking something inside and then putting it back out into the world as another thing is the key of creativity. Knowing and loving someone so much that there is a need to express it is a very natural form of creativity.
Another form of expressing creativity is talking. Some people are more blessed in this area than in more obvious ones, such as painting or drawing. They paint a “word picture”. Speeches can be centered around new ideas and thoughts. It can contain all of one's being and transform it into either simple or complicated words.
Inspiration is vital to creativity. Even if it's only a slight feeling or thought that inspires. Creativity can be released each time attempts are made to use the body as an outlet. Remember that creativity is not an art form, but that it forms art.

【題目】Washington: NASA has announced evidence that Jupiter's largest moon, Ganymede, has a saltwater ocean under its icy surface. The ocean seems to have more water than all the water on Earth's surface, according to new Hubble observation.
New Hubble observations of Ganymede's magnetic field strongly suggest that the moon, which is the largest in our whole solar system, is home to a subsurface ocean.
Scientists estimate the ocean is 95 kilometres thick, which is about 10 times deeper than Earth's oceans. But unlike our salty waters, Ganymede's ocean is buried under 150 kilometres of ice.
While scientists have speculated(推測) since 1970s about the presence of an ocean on Ganymede------the largest moon in our solar system------ until now the only observational evidence came from a brief flyby by the Galileo spacecraft, which didn’t observe the moon long enough to confirm a liquid ocean.
This discovery marks an important milestone, highlighting what only Hubble can accomplish. In its 25 years in orbit, Hubble has made many scientific discoveries in our own solar system. A deep ocean under the icy surface of Ganymede opens up further exciting possibilities for life beyond Earth.
Scientists have already confirmed the existence of an ocean on Europa, another moon orbiting Jupiter, and NASA has announced plans to send an unmanned mission there searching for the life that might come with liquid water.
Hubble is a telescope that orbits Earth, but because of its impressive gravitational analyses it can be used to study the inside of far distant planets. Using these same principles, scientists could theoretically detect oceans on distant planets as well.
【1】What can we learn about the Ganymede from the passage?
A. It is a planet with the largest moon in our whole solar system.
B. Its ocean adds to people’s excitement about life beyond Earth.
C. It will be used by NASA as a base for the Hubble telescope.
D. Its liquid ocean was first proved by the Galileo spacecraft.
【2】Which of the following best describes the writer’s attitude towards Hubble?
A. Cautious B. Doubtful
C. Negative D. Favourable
【3】What does the underlined part in Paragraph 6 mean?
A. An underground ocean has been found in Europa.
B. The presence of an underground ocean in Europa is not possible.
C. It is now certain that there is an ocean on Europa.
D. No evidence has shown the existence of an ocean on Europa.
【4】What type of writing does this passage belong to?
A. A term essay B. A news report
C. An experiment report D. An exploration review.

Scientists have discovered that【1】(stay) in the cold could help us lose weight. Researchers at the University of California found that exposure to the cold increases levels of a protein that helps form brown fat--the type of fat that produces heat and keeps us warm. Brown fat burns energy,【2】helps us lose weight. White fat stores extra energy, which results【3】weight gain. The researchers said that because air conditioning and heating give us constant,【4】(comfort) temperatures, our body’s need for brown fat has decreased. They found that: “Outdoor workers in northern Finland who【5】(expose) to cold temperature have【6】significant amount of brown fat when【7】(compare) to same-aged indoor workers.” The research was conducted on two different control groups of mice.【8】group was injected with the protein that helps create brown fat. This group later gained 30% less weight after both groups were fed high-fat diets. The researchers say this could be good news in the fight against obesity. People who are obese have【9】(low) levels of brown fat than thinner people. Head researcher Hei Sook Sul said, “This protein could become an important target for research into the treatment and prevention of obesity and obesity-related diseases.” She added, “If you can somehow increase levels of this protein, you could【10】(possible) lose more weight even if eating the same amount of food.”
