Sometimes jealousy is mixed with a lot of anger. If your efforts to listen to your friend and encourage him aren’t working, give him some time to cool off. He may need to work out his feelings alone or with someone who’s not the object of his jealousy.

Call up some extra support for yourself, too. Another friend, a relative or a girlfriend/boyfriend may be able to help you sort out your feelings about being the object of your friend’s jealousy. Guy Boxall, senior product marketing manager at Casio Business Solutions Division, which commissioned the research from YouGov, said that despite the fall in people visiting the high street,humans are "social creatures" who actually like spending time together.
