This painting is an example of surrealism (超現(xiàn)實主義) ，a style that captures strange dreamlike feelings. Magritte explained this painting as follows, "Everything we see hides another thing,so we always want to see what is hidden by what we see. There is an interest be?cause which is hidden does not show us."
