【答案】Dear editor,
I am Li Hua, a student from Xinhua Middle School. As a matter of fact, I often visit your website. I am delighted to know that you are collecting topics faced with middle school students to make a new round of courses. I would like to participate in this activity by recommending to you a topic, which is “we should be thankful”.
Living in this world, we have many people that we should be thankful to. First of all, we should be thankful to our parents, for it was they who brought us into this world. Also, we should be thankful to our teachers, for they taught us knowledge. And most important of all, we should be thankful to our friends ,for they always give us a hand whenever we are in trouble. What I want to say is that every one of us lives in a grateful world.
I hope that the activity will be a great success.

Many English language learners believe that the (great) difficulty with listening comprehension (理解) is that the listener cannot control how quickly a speaker speaks. They feel that what the speaker says disappears they can follow. This frequently means that students are learning to listen cannot keep up. They are so busy working out the meaning one part of what they hear that they miss the next part. Or they (simple) ignore a whole section because they fail to catch it quickly enough. Another difficulty is that the listener is not always in a position to get the speaker to repeat what has been said. And, of course, repeats cannot (ask) for when listening to the radio or watching TV.
Besides, (choose) of vocabulary is in the hands of the speaker, not the listener. Very often, for people listening to a foreign language, an unknown word can be like a suddenly (drop) stone making them stop and think about the meaning of the word, (cause) them to miss the next part of the speech. In listening, it really is a case of “He who (stop) to work out the meaning is lost.”

【題目】閱讀理解
Two of the saddest words in the English language are if only. I live my life with the goal of never having to say those words, because they convey regret, lost opportunities, mistakes, and disappointment.
My father is famous in our family for saying, “Take the extra minute to do it right.” I always try to live by the “extra minute” rule. When my children were young and likely to cause accidents, I always thought about what I could do to avoid an “if only” moment, whether it was something minor like moving a cup full of hot coffee away from the edge of a counter, or something that required a little more work such as taping padding (襯墊) onto the sharp corners of a glass coffee table.
I don't only avoid those “if only” moments when it comes to safety. It's equally important to avoid “if only” in our personal relationships. We all know people who lost a loved one and regretted that they had foregone an opportunity to say “I love you” or “I forgive you.” When my father announced he was going to the eye doctor across from my office on Good Friday, I told him that it was a holiday for my company and I wouldn't be here. But then I thought about the fact that he's 84 years old and I realized that I shouldn't give up an opportunity to see him. I called him and told him I had decided to go to work on my day off after all.
I know there will still be occasions when I have to say if only about something, but my life is definitely better because of my policy of doing everything possible to avoid that eventuality. And even though it takes an extra minute to do something right, or it occasionally takes an hour or two in my busy schedule to make a personal connection, I know that I'm doing the right thing. I'm buying myself peace of mind and that's the best kind of insurance for my emotional well-being.
(1)Which of the following is an example of the extra minute rule?
A.Start the car the moment everyone is seated.
B.Leave the room for a minute with the iron working.
C.Wait for an extra minute so that the steak tastes better.
D.Move an object out of the way before it trips someone.
(2)The author decided to go to her office on Good Friday to ______.
A.keep her appointment with the eye doctor
B.meet her father who was already an old man
C.join in the holiday celebration of the company
D.finish her work before the deadline approached
(3)The underlined word foregone in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to ______.
A.abandoned
B.lacked
C.avoided
D.took
(4)What is the best title for the passage?
A.The Emotional Well-being
B.The Two Saddest Words
C.The Most Useful Rule
D.The Peace of Mind

Trust is a learned behavior that we gain from past experiences. Trust is a risk. But you can't be successful when there's a lack of trust in a relationship that results from an action where the wrongdoer takes no responsibility to fix the mistake.
Unfortunately,we've all been victims of betrayal. Whether we've been stolen from, lied to,misled,or cheated on,there are different levels of losing trust. Sometimes people simply can't trust anymore. It's understandable, but if you're willing to build trust in a relationship again,we have some steps you can take to get you there.
Having confidence in yourself will help you make better choices because you can see what the best outcomewould be for your well-being.
If you've been betrayed, you are the victim of your circumstance. But there's a difference between being a victim and living with a “victim mentality”. At some point in all of our lives,we'll have our trust tested or violated.
You didn't lose “everything”. Once trust is lost, what is left? Instead of looking at the situation from this hopeless angle, look at everything you still have and be thankful for all of the good in your life. Instead,it's a healthy way to work through the experience to allow room余地 for positive growth and forgiveness.
A. Learn to really trust yourself.
B. It is putting confidence in someone .
C. Stop regarding yourself as the victim.
D. Remember that you can expect the best in return.
E. They've been too badly hurt and they can't bear to let it happen again. .
F. This knowledge carries over in their attitude toward their future relationships.
G. Seeing the positive side of things doesn't mean you're ignoring what happened.
