I like travelling and my dream of paying a visit for Beijing, the capital city of our country, come true during the National Day holidays this year. On October 1st, I went to Tian’anmen Square with my parents, there we watched a flag-raising ceremony. As I watched the flag rising slowly, I sang a national anthem, to music, feel extremely excited. Then we went to some other famous tourist attraction, like the Great Wall. Standing on the Great Wall, I felt very proudly. I thought the old saying that "He who do not reach the Great Wall is not a true man." Although I was tired, but I really had a good time.

1.for--to

2.come--came

3.there--where

4.a--the

5.feel--feeling

6.attraction--attractions

7.proudly--proud

8.thought后加of

9.do--does

10.去掉but

Pay a visit to參觀,是固定用法,所以for—to。

where we watched a flag-raising ceremony. 是一個(gè)定語從句,關(guān)系詞在從句中作地點(diǎn)狀語,所以用關(guān)系副詞where,there--where。

think of想起,是固定短語,thought后加of.

who does not reach the Great Wall是一個(gè)定語從句,修飾先行詞He,關(guān)于詞在從句中作主語,關(guān)系詞替代先行詞,先行詞是單數(shù),所以do—does。

Although but不能連用,所以去掉but。

Christopher Thomas, 27, was a writer by night and a teacher by day when he noticed he was always tired and was losing weight fast. Diagnosed with diabetes (糖尿病), Thomas would need to inject himself with insulin (胰島素) three times a day for the rest of his life or risk nerve damage, blindness, and even death. And if that weren't bad enough, he had no health insurance.
After a month of feeling upset, Thomas decided he'd better find a way to fight back. He left Canton, Michigan for New York, got a job waiting tables, nicknamed himself the Diabetic Rockstar, and created diabeticrockstar.com, a free online community for diabetics and their loved ones—a place where over 1,100 people share personal stories, information, and resources.
Jason Swencki's son, Kody, was diagnosed with type diabetes at six. Father and son visit the online children's forums (論壇) together most evenings. “Kody gets so excited, writing to kids from all over,” says Swencki, one of the site's volunteers. “They know what he's going through, so he doesn't feel alone.”
Kody is anything but alone: Diabetes is now the seventh leading cause of death in the United States, with 24 million diagnosed cases. And more people are being diagnosed at younger ages.
These days, Thomas's main focus is his charity (慈善機(jī)構(gòu)), Fight It, which provides medicines and supplies to people—225 to date—who can't afford a diabetic's huge expenses. Fight-it.org has raised about $23,000—in products and in cash. In May, Thomas will hold the first annual Diabetic Rockstar Festival in the Caribbean.
Even with a staff of 22 volunteers, Thomas often devotes up to 50 hours a week to his cause, while still doing his fulltime job waiting tables. “Of the diabetes charities out there, most are putting money into finding a cure,” says Bentley Gubar, one of Rockstar's original members. “But Christopher is the only person I know saying people need help now.”

We all know the importance of curiosity, and here are some tips on how to develop it.

Keep an open mind. This is essential if you are to have a curious mind. Be open to learning, unlearning, and relearning things. 1Therefore, you should be prepared to accept this possibility and change your mind.

2Most people just accept the world as it is. This way, they will certainly lose the “holy curiosity”. Try to dig deeper beneath the surface of what is around you. A sure way to dig deeper beneath the surface is asking questions. What, why, when, who, where, and how are the questions curious people always ask.

Don’t label anything as boring. Whenever you label something as boring, you close one more door of possibilities. Curious people are unlikely to consider things boring.

3Even if they don’t yet have time to explore them, they will leave the door open to be visited another time.

Take learning as something fun. If you see learning as a burden, there’s no way you will want to dig deeper into anything. That will just make the burden heavier. However, if you think of learning as something fun, you will naturally want to dig deeper.4.

Read diverse materials. It will introduce you to the possibilities and excitement of other worlds which may attract your interest in exploring further. One easy way to do this is through reading diverse materials.5. It’ll feed your mind with the excitement of a new world.

A. Never take things as granted.

B. Don’t spend too much time on just one world.

C. Try to pick a book or magazine on a new subject.

D. Some things you know and believe might be wrong.

E. It doesn’t matter that you don’t agree to others’ opinions.

F. Instead, they always see these things as a door to an exciting new world.

G. So look at life through the glasses of fun and enjoy the learning process.

A new tool of communication called the “drift diary” is doing the rounds among young college graduates.

The “drift diary”, like those ancient paper messages put into a bottle left to drift on the high seas to reach hundreds of miles away, connects lonely hearts.

The “drift diary” was first started by a Beijing woman, who goes by the Net name Little S, in 2007. It has become the preferred tool of communication among youngsters afraid to reveal their innermost self to peers, but wanting to share their lives with others.

The way it works is that the initiator(發(fā)起人)of the diary mentions it on popular Internet forums such as Tianya and Douban. Those wanting to react or otherwise add to the diary then send their real names and addresses to the initiator via e-mails or text messages.

The numbers in one group are usually restricted to between 30 and 50. The diary then passes on to another by express delivery or personal handover. The diary writers are mostly anonymous but if they wish to reveal their identity they can do so by posting their contact information at the end of their postings.

The diary writers add not just words but also decorate the plain notebooks with cartoons, drawings or even dress it up with a ribbon or a new cover. Interesting experiences, travel journals, the simple joys of everyday living or sweet recollections of childhood, all find a place in these diaries. Most often, though, the writers set down their frustrations and predicaments.

It usually takes one year for a diary to return to the initiator. The last recorder is the luckiest one, with access to all previous entries, while others can request photocopies of these from the diary’s initiator.

1The popularity of “drift diary” among youngsters is because __________.

A. they hate using the Internet

B. they like to show themselves to peers

C. they want to share their lives with strangers

D. they find it fashionable to be a diary writer

2Which one shows the correct way a drift diary works?

② The diary returns to the initiator.

③ The initiator of the diary makes a summon online.

④ Participants request photocopies of the diary from the diary’s initiator.

⑤ Those who want to participate in the program get in touch with the initiator.

A. ③⑤①④②. B. ③⑤①②④.

C. ④⑤①②③. D. ①③⑤②④.

3The underlined word “predicament” probably means__________.

A. successful experiences B. sense of achievement

C. difficult situations D. favorable conditions

Last summer I had a chance to visit Paris. That attracted me most was the Eiffel Tower, where has become a symbol of France. I was deeply impressed by their height. I have never seen such tall building before! It is made of iron and it is about 7000 tons heavy. There have 1711 steps from the bottom to the top. Climb the tower made me very tired, but I was very exciting. I took a lot of photo in Paris.
I have much memories and experiences to share. I will remember my trip to the France forever!
