Every single human being on this planet has a path and purpose to fulfill, whether they realize it or not. 【1】
List what you love and connect the dots. 【2】 It may not make sense at first, but all of the things you enjoy doing are part of your path in one form or another, so grab a pen and a piece of paper and start writing. Once you have your list, take a step back and see how all these brilliant pieces might connect to the work you are meant to do.
Identify what you do with ease. Often our passion and purpose are staring us right in the face, but it’s so natural to us that we don’t think anything about it. 【3】 Just because they are easy for you doesn’t mean that’s the case for everyone else. By identifying what comes naturally to you, you have the ability to build on your strengths and help others in ways you never thought possible.
【4】 Finding your passion is directly related to doing the things that light you up and set your soul on fire. If you love to teach, run, and host live events, then please, do them all! Who says your life purpose has to be just one thing? You are meant to experience life and all that it has offered.
Ask others to help. If you are still feeling stuck in finding your passion and purpose in life, it might be time to ask others for help. It can be difficult for you to see where you truly shine because you are simply too close to connecting the dots on your own. Friends, family members and professionals have a view that you don’t. 【5】
A. Do what makes you happy.
B. Find what you do with ease.
C. Don’t overlook the things that are easy for you.
D. They can help you to see things within yourself.
E. You cannot count on others to help you completely.
F. Here are ways to find your passion and purpose from now on.
G. Identifying the things you love is the best way to find your passion and purpose.

【題目】Green building refers to both a structure and the using of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle. Green buildings can also refer to environmentally friendly houses, factories, and offices.
Green building means “reducing the effect of the building on the land”, Taryn Holowka of the U. S. Green Building Council (評議會)in Washington, D, C, said. According to Holowka, building accounts for 65 percent of total US, electricity use.
But green buildings can reduce energy and water use- Also, the buildings are often located near public transportation such as buses and subways, so that people can drive their cars less. That could be good for the environment, because cars use lots of gas and give off pollution. Green buildings are often built on developed land, so that the buildings don’t destroy forests.
Marty Dettling is project manager for a building that puts these ideas into action. The Solaire has been called the country's first green high-rise building. According to Dettling, “We’ve reduced our energy use by one-third and our water by 50 percent.”
The Solaire cuts energy in part by using solar power. “On the face of the building we have solar panels which change the sun's energy into electricity,” Dettling explained.
The Solaire also has lights that automatically turn off when people leave the room. In addition, the building has lots of windows, allowing people to use the sun for light during the day. The Solaire cuts water by reusing it.
Not everyone is eager to move into a green building, however. Some people think that things like solar panels cost more money than more traditional energy sources. Anyhow, Holowka said, “It’s going to be big.”
【1】A green building is often built on an area of land ________.
A. where traveling around by car is most convenient
B. which has thick forests around
C. where people of high income live
D. which has already been for buildings
【2】A green building means ________.
A. a building that uses no electricity
B. a green-colored building
C. a building occupying less land
D. a building that saves energy and water
【3】When Holowka says in the last paragraph, “It’s going to be big”, she means that green buildings ________.
A. will be more comfortable
B. will be more environmentally friendly
C. will become popular in future
D. will take the place of traditional buildings

【題目】Robots make me nervous—especially the ones which seem to think for themselves. I was embarrassed to admit this till I heard that Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, felt the same way.
Gates said in an interview with the social networking and news website Reddit: “I am in the camp that is concerned about super intelligence. First the machines will do a lot of jobs for us and not be super intelligent. That should be positive if we manage well. A few decades after that though the intelligence is strong enough to be a concern.”
Well, maybe I don’t have to worry about my computer and kitchen equipment yet. After I use them I can always pull the plug. But in the future, machines might find a way to prevent us from switching them off. There’s a terrible thought!
Maybe the problem with computers too clever for us is not that they are evil like some we’ve seen in sci-fi movies. What could put us in danger is that they might be too efficient. That’s what philosopher Nick Bostrom from Oxford University believes. He says that machines are indifferent (漠然) to humans and in pursuit of their own goals, the destruction of people might be just additional damage. Bostrom gives us an example: A machine which might have as its only goal to produce as many paperclips as possible might look at human bodies as extra material for paperclips and go after you. Because it is, well, a machine, it would not take pity on you.
It’s a good thing that American writer Isaac Asimov thought about how far robots can go and left us his three rules of robotics. They state that a robot may not hurt a human being or allow the human being to come to harm.
I’m glad my machines at home are “dumb”. All my cleaner wants to take over is the carpet in my living room. Let’s hope they don’t create an appliance which wants to take over the world!
【1】The author quoted Bill Gates’ words in Paragraph 2 in order to make the text ________.
A. better-knownB. more persuasive
C. better-organizedD. more interesting
【2】An intelligent paperclip machine would harm us because ________.
A. it is much cleverer than us
B. it would take over the world
C. it would see us just as material
D. it has the strong feeling of destroying us
【3】How does the author feel about Isaac Asimov’s rules of robotics?
A. OptimisticB. SympathyC. DisappointedD. Regretful
【4】What does the text mainly focus on?
A. The benefits of future robots.
B. The new applications of robots.
C. The concern for super intelligence.
D. The popularity of robots in the future.
