I’d like to introduce Sarah to you. She is a good friend of me. Actually she is an exchange student from Ireland, which has been studying in my school for two month. Wanting to take an advantage of her short time here, Sarah works hardly. She had not studied Chinese before arriving here, but she has some difficulty communicating with people she woke up early morning to study a bit before class. I admire her independence for doing all of this while live so far away from her family. Besides, Sarah is in great help. Busy as she is, she often takes time help classmates with their English homework. A lovely girl, isn’t she?

【答案】 me--- mine; which ---who; month.--- months ;去掉 take an advantage of 中的an; hardly---hard; but---so; woke ---wakes;live ---living; in ---of;在time help 之間加to

故me改為mine。

故which改為who。

第四處:去掉 take an advantage of 中的an;考查固定詞組搭配。take advantage of“利用”,為固定短語(yǔ)。故去掉 take an advantage of 中的an。

故but改為so。

I admire her independence for doing all of this while she is living so far away from her family.;當(dāng)時(shí)間、條件狀語(yǔ)從句中的主語(yǔ)與主句主語(yǔ)一致,且有be動(dòng)詞時(shí),可以省略掉從句中的主語(yǔ)及be動(dòng)詞。

be+of+抽象名詞=be +相應(yīng)的形容詞。故in改為of。

take time to do sth.“花費(fèi)時(shí)間做某事”,為固定搭配。故在time help 之間加to。

Writing journals has been one of the most helpful things I've ever done. Through writing journals I've not only learned a lot about myself, but also removed a lot of obsessive (煩惱的) thoughts, by writing them down and considering them.
Journals give you a place to write down your honest thoughts without being afraid of what people will think of you. There are some ideas for writing journals:
Draw pictures
Write poetry or short stories
Goals: daily and long-term
Respond to a magazine article that you are interested in
Write about obsessive thoughts and try to find what's causing them
A list of things you are proud of (It can always increase your confidence when you need it)
Make a pro/con (贊成/反對(duì)) list when you're trying to make a decision: most of the time the decision will start to be clearer afterwards
The best way to start is to decide where you want to write your journal. (Though it's called the journal, it doesn't mean you can only do it in a “journal”) . If you like the traditional style of journals, then use a notebook, blank paper or graph paper, whichever you like best. If you prefer to go digital, start a blog. You can make the blog public or private, and it's a good way to keep track of articles or pictures you find online. (You can link to them.)
Even if you feel there's nothing for you to write about at first, you might be surprised to find that once you start, you can't stop.
(1)What does writing journals help the author do?
A.Make many friends.
B.Do many helpful things.

One of the most recent social changes taking place in the world is social networking. Social networking has been in existence for at least 150 years, and probably longer than that. In the times before the invention of the computer and the World Wide Web (WWW), social networking was done in person. People who had similar likes and interests would gather together to share experiences, make new friends, and improve their businesses.
On the Internet, social networking websites made their first appearances during the late 1990s. The first major social networking website in the United States was MySpace. MySpace allowed its users to exchange messages, share pictures, and make new friends in a way that was never thought of in the past. With MySpace, people who did not go out much could reach out to others from their own homes.
In 2004, Facebook was created. It was first a website created for use by Harvard University's students and teachers, but it soon expanded to include just about everyone. It is now larger than some of the largest companies in the world. It is a website that is changing all the time. Facebook has completely changed the way people stay connected with each other and the rest of the world. The way it works is simple. Users can set up a new account (賬戶) easily. All a new user needs is an email address to start. Once a person has created an account and his friend also has his own Facebook page, he can invite his friend by sending a request out to him. Once you get started, making new friends will come easily.
(1)What can we learn about social networking?
A.It is not a new development.
B.It made World Wide Web famous.
C.It appeared because of the computers.
D.It helped people develop new interests.
(2)What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
A.MySpace is less famous than Facebook.
B.MySpace greatly changed people's lives.
C.MySpace led to the appearance of Facebook.

(3)What do new users of Facebook need to create an account?
A.An email address.
B.His friend's help.
C.High-speed network.
D.His friend's Facebook page.

Living among trees, plants and flowers can fill your life with beauty. And if you are a woman, it can also help you live longer. Researchers found that women who live in homes surrounded by plants appear to have lower death rates than women who live in areas with fewer plants.
Researchers at Harvard University's T.H. Chan School of Public Health reported the finding. They looked at the information from one of the largest and oldest investigations of the women's health: the Nurse's Health Study. It began 40 years ago. It now has information on nearly 200,000 women.
For the new study, the team looked at the death rates of more than 100,000 women between the years 2000 and 2008. Then the researchers compared the death rates of these women to the plants around their homes. The researchers also considered other things, such as the age of the women, money they earn and race. They also looked at whether or not the women smoked.
The study found that the death rate among women who lived in the greenest spaces was 12% lower than those from the least green areas. The researchers were surprised to find such a strong connection between high vegetation levels and low death rates.
The study suggested that living among trees, flowers and other plants lowered levels of depression. Researchers said women in greener areas spent more time with other people and exercised more. It is common knowledge that plants can help the environment in many ways. The new finding also suggested ways to the government and the city planners to grow even healthier living areas.
(1)How did the researchers divide the women in the study?
A.By their money.
B.By their different ages.
C.By their habit of smoking.
D.By the number of plants around them.
(2)It can be inferred from the last paragraph that ________.
A.more and more women will plant trees
B.it will be a must to build houses with trees around
C.the new finding may influence future living conditions
D.the government will take action to make women healthier
(3)What is the best title of this passage?
A.Women should grow flowers at home
B.Plants may help women live longer
C.Women must exercise more to keep healthy
D.The bad environment causes high death rates
