The benefits of telling a bedtime story should never be neglected by any parent. It is important to your child’s overall development.
Telling bedtime stories helps your child expand his vocabulary, improves his listening skills, and develops his ability to understand events and characters. His oral communication skills will improve. Storytelling is a great way to make your child interested in reading and also in expressing their thoughts through writing.
There are various thinking skills that are mastered by your little one as he listens to a story. He learns to recall the information and use it in real life. As your child listens to different ideas, he will be more open to accept new ideas. He learns to be more flexible in his thinking but, at the same time, have his own points of view.
Your child also learns to solve problems through stories. For instance, he may behave appropriately in various situations. Your child will learn a lot from the story and pay attention to his behavior.
Some tales tell us of moral values, which are important for your child’s moral development. Knowing that other kids also learn basic manners and respect for elders in stories, he will son develop a set of moral values for his own.
The last but not least benefit would be the quality time you spend together with your child. This close and personal time between the parent and the child is not easily copied in other situations. Your child will have a good relationship with you.

     Tact should not be confused with trickery. Trickery occurs when a nurse is about to give a patient an injection and says, “This won’t hurt a bit.” Instead of trickery, the nurse might guarantee the patient that the discomfort of the injection is a small thing compared to the benefits of it. It would also be thoughtful for the nurse to tell the patients about some of these benefits.

The therapy won’t cure his cancer, but it does, according to Garcia’s mom, take away much of the boy’s depression(沮喪).
Music therapy can put patients in better moods and ease the symptoms of depression according to the American Music Therapy Association. Other benefits include relieving pain, calming tension, aiding sleep, reducing worry or fear, and easing muscle tension.
Jose Haro personally experienced the benefits of music therapy when he was recovering from heart surgery. During his recovery, he played a piano whose keys lit up, indicating which keys to touch to play along with the background music. Soon he was playing tunes and noticing something strange. “I was searching for my pain.” He says of his experience, “but it was gone.”
While Haro's experience provides an evidence of the power of music to relieve pain, scientific research has proven music also helps patients with Alzheimer's disease and arthritis.
In addition, music therapy helps premature babies. Doctors are tapping into a powerful way to teach premature babies that haven’t yet learned how to suck. Doctors use a device that comforts the babies by playing music when they suck on a pacifier（奶嘴）. Soon the babies learn to suck in return for music, gaining weight faster and going home earlier than those who do not use the device.
Even perfectly healthy people are discovering the power of music to calm and heal. Drum circles attract people who find stress relief in beating out rhythms. While music is not a cure-all, it does make life a little easier.
