I just came back from Britain last week.I was luckily enough to be one of the students from different country to visit the UK from Feb.16 to 28.We paid a visit to a good many of places, like London, Oxford or the Lake District.I learned much about British culture and history in London, where was my favorite.I also liked Oxford, in which I saw much more old buildings. The Lake District was beautiful, but it was pity that it rained heavily when they were there. The most excited thing for me in Britain was that I make a lot of friends there.

【1】luckily lucky

【2】countries country

【4】or and

【5】where which

【6】much many

【8】they we

【9】excited exciting

【10】make made

【1】luckily lucky

a good many 許多,表泛指;a good many of...

【4】or and 考查連詞。London, Oxford 和the Lake District 是并列關(guān)系用and,不是選擇其一or。

【6】much many 考查代詞。

It was a pity that 很遺憾......。

【8】they we 考查人稱一致。

【10】make made 考查動詞的嚴(yán)一致性。

How to protect children Web fans from unsuitable material on-line while encouraging them to use the Internet has long been discussed in the US.

For some parents, the Internet can seem like a jungle (叢林), filled with danger for their children. But jungles contain wonders as well as dangers and with good guides, some education and a few precautions (預(yù)防), the wilds of the Internet can be safely navigated . "Kids have to be on-line. If we tell our kids they can’t be allowed to surf the Internet, we are cutting them from their future,” said an expert.

Most kids have started to use search engines. Many of them are great for finding tons of interesting Internet sites, and they can also locate places where you might not want your kids to go. There are search engines designed just for kids. A certain software contains only sites that have been selected as safe. The most popular way would be to use what is known as a “content screener ". But this can’t be wholly reliable, and the best thing parents can do is to talk to their kids and let them know what is OK or not OK to see or to do on the Internet. Another way is that Mum or Dad is nearby when the child is surfing the Internet.

A few other tips:

--- Don't put the PC in the child's room but keep it in an area where Mum or Dad can keep an eye on things. That also makes the Internet more of a family activity.

--- Ask your child what he or she has been doing and about any friend they make online,

--- Tell your child not to give on-line strangers personal information, especially like address and phone number.

--- And tell your children never to talk to anyone they meet on-line over the phone, send them anything, accept anything from them or agree to meet with them unless you go along.

1What is the best way to protect children from improper materials?

A. To fix a content screener on the computer.

B. To be nearby when they are surfing the Internet.

C. To talk to them and persuade them to tell right from wrong.

D. To buy some search engines for children.

2Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

A. Surfing the Internet is the best way of educating children.

B. Using a content screener is most reliable for keeping children having ways to the Internet.

C. Search engines can help children to select materials fit for them.

D. Children’s not having chances to go to the Internet may have effect on their progress.

3According to the passage, we can infer that _____.

A. softwares fit for children want programming.

B. the Internet will be protected by law

C. the Internet contains a lot of harmful sites

D. a child who is on-line is in danger

4What does the passage tell us most?

A. Education. B. Precautions.

C. Search engines. D. Software.

It is known to all that we students today have to fix our attention to our lessons, so we know few of society. A holiday is the best time and the best chance to make up for that. Take a part-time job is a good form of social practice. That we have learned in books and in class can’t have the same important effect us as what we have learned through personal practice. In social practice, we can surely make a progress in both knowledge or practical ability. Beside, when we take a part-time job, we may got paid more or less to help our family. Larry was on another of his underwater expeditions(探險)but this time, it was different. He decided to take his daughter along with him. She was only ten years old. This would be her first trip with her father on what he had always been famous for.

Larry first began diving when he was his daughter’s age. Similarly, his father had taken him along on one of his expeditions. Since then, he had never looked back. Larry started out by renting diving suits from the small diving shop just along the shore. He had hated them. They were either too big or too small. Then, there was the instructor. He gave him a short lesson before allowing him into the water with his father. He had made an exception. Larry would never have been able to go down without at least five hours of theory and another similar number of hours on practical lessons with a guide. Children his age were not even allowed to dive.

After the first expedition, Larry’s later diving adventures only got better and better. There was never a dull moment. In his black and blue suit and with an oxygen tank fastened on his back, Larry dived from boats into the middle of the ocean. Dangerous areas did not prevent him from continuing his search. Sometimes, he was limited to a cage underwater but that did not bother him. At least, he was still able to take photographs of the underwater creatures

Larry’s first expedition without his father was in the Cayman Islands. There were numerous diving spots in the area and Larry was determined to visit all of them. Fortunately for him, a man offered to take him around the different spots for free. Larry did not even know what the time was, how many spots he dived into or how many photographs he had taken. The diving spots afforded such a wide array of fish and sea creatures that Larry saw more than thirty varieties of creatures.

Larry looked at his daughter. She looked as excited as he had been when he was her age. He hoped she would be able to continue the family tradition. Already, she looked like she was much braver than Larry had been then. This was the key to a successful underwater expedition.

【1】In what way was this expedition different for Larry?

A. His daughter had grown up.

B. He had become a famous diver.

C. His father would dive with him.

D. His daughter would dive with him.

【2】What can be inferred from Paragraph 2?

A. Larry had some privileges.

B. Larry liked the rented diving suits.

C. Divers had to buy diving equipment.

D. Ten-year-old children were permitted to dive.

【3】Why did Larry have to stay in a cage underwater sometimes?

A.To protect himself from danger.

B.To dive into the deep water.

C.To admire the underwater view.

D.To take photos more conveniently.

【4】What did Larry expect his daughter to do?

A.Become a successful diver.

B.Make a good diving guide.

C.Take a lot of photos underwater.

D.Have longer hours of training.

I visited my aunt in the countryside near the city last week. I was surprising to see that great changes had been taken place in the countryside. In the past they were poor due to the lack of knowledge and experiences. Despite the fact that they spared no efforts to search of every possible means to make money, which seemed that all they did was in vain.

Now their family’s income reaches as many as 100, 000 yuan each year. Not only they have a house, a car and computers, they can also afford a trip abroad.
