Though several other countries celebrate this day in honor of their own veterans，the meaning is slightly different for each one．Some like the United Kingdom，celebrate it in honorof all soldiers-living or dead，while others like Canada celebrate it to honor all living veterans．They also call it different names．France and New Zealand silll call it Armistice Day．In the United Kingdom，Australia and Canada it is referred to as Remembrance Day，while Malta and South Africa celebrate it as Poppy Day．
No matter what it is called，the reason for observing the day is the same-to show our appreciation to the brave men and women who sacrifice（犧牲）everything to make this world a safer place for the rest of us．

The Ugly Duckling is one of his popular fairy tales．One young duckling is noticeably different from the rest of its brothers and sisters．So it is often laughed at by them．The duckling is sad and wishes it could one day fly away with swans（天鵝） it sees flying overhead．Finally，after the duckling ages a bit，it realizes that it is not actually a duckling at all．It is a swan，and now that it has grown up and is beautiful，it flies away joyfully to join its kind．This story is often told to young children so that they won't worry about being different or getting laughed at by other kids．
There are many other great Hans Christian Anderson stories，such as The Princess and the Pea and The Snow Queen．It's never too late in life to read a new fairy tale．

After school，I was about to enter into my apartment when I saw a little dirty dog lie beside the dustbin．He looked extremely weak．Immediately the homeless dog filled me of sympathy．So I decided to take him home．I gave him some food and a bath．After the bath he looked energy and refreshed．What a lovely dog!
