Easy Ways to Build Vocabulary
It’s not all that hard to build an advanced and large vocabulary. Like many things in life, it’s【1】ongoing process, and the best part of the process is that there’s enough room for improvement, 【2】means you’ll just keep getting better and better. Of course you have to work at it. You wouldn’t think that a few 【3】 (month) of exercise in your teens would be enough 【4】the rest of your life, and that’s also true for building your vocabulary----you have to keep at it daily, and pretty soon you will find that you have an excellent vocabulary.
One of the【5】 (effect) ways to build vocabulary is to read good books. You need to 【6】(real)read at least one good book a week, preferably a classic. This isn’t as hard as it【7】(sound), and it is far better than any other method because you improve your vocabulary while【8】(read) an interesting piece of literature. Another nice thing is that you learn both new words and 【9】(they)use unconsciously, meaning that you will tend to use the words【10】(learn)this way in conversations almost automatically.
【1】an
【2】which
【3】months
【4】for
【5】effective
【6】really
【7】sounds
【8】reading
【9】their
【10】learned/learnt
故填an。
空白處所填的詞指代逗號前的there’s enough room for improvement,which在句中為關(guān)系代詞,引導(dǎo)非限定性定語從句,并在句中作主語。故填which。
be enough for sth
作狀語;也可視為狀語從句while you are reading...
故填their。
故填learned/learnt。

Paparazzi, (狗仔隊)or “paps”, are photographers who take pictures of famous people when they are not at the center of public attention. Paps are different from professional photographers or journalists because they never take ordinary photos.
The goal for paparazzi is to get pictures that no one else will get and then sell the pictures to the buyer who offers the most money — normainly a small newspaper, magazine or website.
There is no law against paparazzi taking pictures in public places. However, there are laws that protect certain individuals. For example, child protection laws stop improper pictures of anyone under 16 from being published.
There is also no law that stops paparazzi from following celebrities(名人) and taking their pictures either. However, if paps are secretly following them and taking pictures of their faces, they could get into trouble.
Most paparazzi hang out on streets and hot spots for celebrities, waiting for the opportunity to take a picture of a star. Many stay on the streets until the early hours of the morning when celebrities are leaving nightclubs and looking a little worse for wear. However, some have other ways to make sure they get pictures. Many paps are in contact with “informers” who know the locations of celebrities at any given time. They then pass the information on to paparazzi. An informer could be anyone — from a restaurant waiter to a salesman.
Most of the time, paparazzi get a bad reputation for following celebrities. But sometimes stars or their managers will contact paps themselves and tell them exactly where and when they will go. What a love-hate relationship between paparazzi and celebrities!

(4)What can we infer from the passage?

Most of us will admit that on occasions we can be bad-tempered. This can be for a number of reasons.
As the body and mind are tired, it seems to take us less time to become angry just because of something that is of little importance. Young children are usually the cause of tiredness and it is highly likely that parents allow themselves to release(釋放) their exhaustion directly at the children. Children are very good at remembering these instances and it will affect them for a long time.
Diet and lifestyle can be key factors in causing a bad temper. Some people don't realize that their diet can directly affect their moods. Processed food and items that contain a lot of sugars, especially those that aren't natural sugars, can cause a rise in blood sugar. Similarly, lifestyle choices can encourage bad tempers and poor moods, especially if drug and alcohol are used too frequently.
If you have noticed that you are becoming increasingly bad-tempered, it is important that you take steps to try and regain control. After you find the cause, try and make positive changes to prevent this from occurring in the future.
A.Find your ways to release your anger.
B.Check what it is that causes the bad mood.
C.Tiredness is often the most common reason.
D.Managing your anger is good for your health.
E.Therefore, it is important to have more patience when with children.
F.This rise can have a very negative effect on moods and mental performance.
G.So it is important to keep away from these temptations(誘惑) for your own mental state.

Canada is one of the few nations in the world to have two official languages:English and French. There are 10 provinces in the country but only one of these—Quebec is known as "French Canada". This is because it was founded by French explorers while British adventurers discovered the rest.
Canada left the Britain in 1867 to become an independent country, and English and French have been recognized as the official languages ever since.
Most people speak English as their first language and the two national television networks broadcast in English throughout the country. Apart from in Quebec and a few places on the east coast, French television is very rare.
The same goes for traffic signs and menus, for example. Outside of Quebec, there are only a few places where you'll see traffic signs in French. In restaurants, it's almost impossible to find French on the menu unless you are in the heartland of French Canada. However, all products sold in Canada must, by law, have labels(標(biāo)簽)and instructions in both languages.
In Canada's English speaking provinces, official bilingualism(雙語)means that students can choose to complete a special French language course. Under this programme, they are taught most of their subjects in French. If a student begins the course in kindergarten(幼兒園)or Grade One, it is likely that all their lessons will be in French. However, if they start at junior high school, 25 per cent of the teaching will continue to be in English.
(1)How many provinces are there in Canada?
A.Ten
B.Nine
C.Eleven
D.Two
(2)Which country controlled Canada before its independence?
A.France.
B.Britain.
C.America.
D.Germany.
(3)Which of the following sentences is Right?
A.English is the only official language, though French is also spoken there.
B.The two national television networks broadcast both in English and French.
C.All products sold in Canada must be explained in both English and French.
D.In any restaurant in Canada, you can find French on the menu.
(4)In Canada's English speaking provinces, what does official bilingualism means?
A.Students have to complete a special French language course.
B.Under the programme, the students are mainly taught in English.
C.If a student begins a special French language course, in kindergarten or Grade one all his lessons may be in French.
D.When the students are at junior high school, they will only be taught in English.

Time flies! This is a third year that I have been in this school. In the past two and a half years, our school had organized many activities. What impressed me best was an activity called “Learning to Farm”. In an autumn afternoon, we were sent to a farm which we learned to plant potatoes. Having been in the city for so a long time, we were so happy to go to the countryside. After divided into three groups, we started to work. Some students cut potatoes into pieces; some dug holes, and the others put the pieces of potatoes into the hole, put the earth back and push them down hard. We continued doing that until all the work was done. Although we were exhausted, but we felt fulfilled on our way back home.
