I am sorry that maths disappoint you, but you can’t give it up. As you say, it is one of the most important subject and there is a reason for this.We have to use maths from all the time. Wherever your career takes you, maths will have to be using. In fact , most employers and universities will accept people who have failed or given up maths. All you can do is try your best in maths and make the most use of time you had. If you have trouble understand anything, the first person you should tell is your teacher.

【2】 subject - subjects 短語“one of…”

【3】去掉from 固定短語all the time一直,總是;單獨(dú)在句中做時(shí)間狀語,前面的from多余。

【4】using - used 本句是一個(gè)被動(dòng)語態(tài)。

【5】will后加not或will won’t 句意:事實(shí)上,大部分的老板和大學(xué)不會(huì)接受數(shù)學(xué)不及格或者放棄數(shù)學(xué)的人。

【7】had - have 本文通篇都是一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),本句中使用一般過去時(shí)had是錯(cuò)誤的,應(yīng)改為have。

【8】 understand - understanding 固定句式:have trouble (in) doing sth做某事有困難。

【9】That - It 在英語中只有it可以充當(dāng)形式主語或形式賓語,本句中的it是形式主語,真正的主語是后面的主語從句how simple things are.

【10】you they 本句主要考查的是代詞的用法,應(yīng)該使用they指代前面的復(fù)數(shù)名詞things。

Yesterday my old neighbor knocked on my door angrily. Obviously, my cat, Rocco, had left a turd (糞便) in his perfect flower beds.

Fortunately, I wasn’t home when this happened, so he angrily complained to my friend and neighbor Kate about this. She was kind enough to listen to him and to go down into the garden with him to have a look. She even took a picture.

When I got home later, Kate had left a message on my answering machine about the incident. Hearing it was about my cat again, my stomach turned. Several weeks before, he’d gotten so upset that he threatened to put rat traps on the ground, hoping that would frighten me into keeping my cat indoors. So, I was a little apprehensive this time.

But I couldn’t help but laugh when Kate told me the whole story. I understood what gardening meant to him. Since my old neighbor retired ten years ago, he had spent all of his time on his garden. So when I saw him in the garden later on, I went to talk to him. To my surprise, it turned out quite nice. I was really surprised to find that I had the grace (雅量) not to respond to his bad words. Instead, I engaged (使忙于) him in a conversation on the beautiful flowers he’d planted, the color combinations and the care he took to create such a sense of order. I tried to convey my understanding and appreciation without complimenting or talking down to him. I was really amazed by how that turned out. We hadn’t had a conversation like that for over a year!

Because the drink was strong and bitter, they thought it was a medicine. No one had the idea of adding sugar. The Spaniards took some beans back to Europe and opened cafes.Wealthy people drank cacao and said it was good for the digestion.

In the 1800s, the owner of a chocolate factory in England discovered that sugar removed the bitter taste of cacao. It quickly became a cheap and popular drink.Soon afterwards, a factory made the first solid block of sweetened chocolate.Later on, another factory mixed milk and chocolate together.
