【題目】More than 30,000 people went to the White House on Monday for the 136th Easter Egg Roll (復(fù)活節(jié)滾彩蛋). President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama held the event by inviting thousands of kids to color and look for eggs. The theme(主題) of the day was “Hop Into Healthy, Swing Into Shape.” It was part of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move!” program to reduce obesity rates (肥胖率) among American kids. Mrs. Obama spoke to young reporters about her goal(目標(biāo)) to get children to eat right and keep moving.
“We are working to make sure that kids born today grow up healthy, learn how to have balanced meals, and get more physical activity into their lives,” she said.
Mrs. Obama said she wants children across the nation to understand that "exercise isn't just hard work, it's play. If you’re running around with your dog, you're getting exercise. If you walk up the stairs, that's exercise, But if you’re sitting in front of the TV or on a computer game, you're not exercising.”
The First Lady said that for kids who have balanced meals most of the time, having a special snack, like chocolate, will not hurt." And if you are active, you can splurge (揮霍) a little more," she said. Mrs. Obama’s favorite "splurge food" is French fries. But she balances her splurging by exercising almost every day. She loves to play tennis and she practices yoga.
“A lot of kids look up to(敬仰) athletes, and I think it's important for athletes to share their good habits,” Mrs. Obama said. "Kids aren’t just going to wake up and be LeBron James. He's practicing and eating right and working out and training. Our athletes can be really good messengers to kids who look up to them--they can say to kids, 'If you really want to be like me, then you really do need to eat your vegetables.’”

Everyone knows that the Frenchmen are romantic, the Italians are fashionable and the Germans are serious. Are these just stereotypes(刻板印象) or is there really such a thing as national character? And if there is, can it affect how a nation succeed or fail?
At least one group of people is certain that it can. A recent survey of the top 500 entrepreneurs (企業(yè)家) in the UK found that 70% felt that their efforts were not appreciated by the British public. Britain is hostile (敵意的) to success, they said. It has a culture of jealousy(嫉妒).__【1】_ Jealousy is sometimes known as the “green-eyed monster” and the UK is its home.
Scientists at Warwich University in the UK recently tested this idea. They gathered a group of people together and gave each an imaginary amount of money. _ 【2】_ Those given a little were given the chance to destroy the large amount of money given to others— but at the cost of losing their own. Two thirds of the people tested agreed to do this.
_【3】__ But there is also opposite evidence. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development recently reported that the UK is now the world's fourth largest economy. That is not bad for people who are supposed to hate success. People in the UK also work longer hours than anyone else in Europe. So the British people are not lazy, either.
“It is not really success that the British dislike,” says Carey Cooper, a professor of management at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. “It’s people using their success in a way that seems proud or unfair or which separates them from their roots.”
_【4】__ They set out to do things in their way. They work long hours. By their own efforts they become millionaires.__ 【5】__ It hardly seems worth following their example. If they were more friendly, people would like them more. And more people want to be like them.
A. This seems to prove that the entrepreneurs were right to complain.
B. The one who owns most money in the end is the winner.
C. As a result, the survey said, entrepreneurs were “unloved, unwanted and misunderstood.”
D. It is not true that British people are born jealous of others` success.
E. Some were given a little, others a great deal.
F. But instead of being happy they complain that nobody loves them.
G. Perhaps it is the entrepreneurs who are the problem.

【題目】Is reading better than watching TV? I believe it is. Is reading better than playing video games? I’m not so sure if it is. If learning is important to you, but not necessarily so, and if pleasure is what you want, these activities can be pleasant in their own way. Reading might be better than many activities if you want to educate yourself and improve your chances of succeeding in your work.
If you’re serious about creating the habit of reading, what’s important is finding a time you can read every day-often that’s early morning or late at night, or both. For others, it might be during their lunch break. You only need to read for 10 to 20 minutes a day to form the habit. Then, you need to find a place that’s comfortable. Make sure it has good lighting, the temperature is nice and you’re in a good chair. Or you can find some place that you can reiax in without failing asleep, although there’s nothing wrong with a sleep.
Next, be sure to shut off the TV, Internet, cell phone, radio, or other music .Let reading be a quiet time. Mark an “x” on your calendar every day you read, and try to keep your unbroken “x”es going as long as possible. A habit is much easier to form if it’s something you enjoy, not something you are made to do. So make the time you spend reading a joy. I’ve been a lifelong reader, so the pleasure of a good book is one of my favorite things in the world. I love to lose myself in the world of a book.
【1】The importance of reading depends on .
A. what you’re going to read B. why you want to read
C. where you decide to read D. when you begin to read
【2】If you want to create a habit of reading, the first thing to do is to .
A. ask the writer for some advice B. find a comfortable place
C. make a proper time plan D. mark an “x” on the new calendar
【3】While you are reading, you’d better .
A. make sure you are alone B. mark a big “x” in your notebook
C. find a good chair with good lighting D. be concentrated and quiet
【4】Reading may become your habit more easily when .
A. it is something you enjoy
B. you don’t use Internet or cell phones
C. your unbroken “x”es last for a long time
D. you spend 10 to 20 minutes reading after lunch

【題目】Watching a 3D movie can more than double the concentration powers and cognitive(認(rèn)知) processing of children, a new research claims.
A study made by visual technology firm RealD and led by child psychologist Dr Richard Woolfson suggests that children aged between 7 and 14 experienced twice the cognitive processing speed and performed better in testing after watching 20 minutes of a 3D film. This is despite suggestions that attention spans(時(shí)期) in children have shortened in the last decade due to unlimited to access to entertainment, including on-demand TV, gaming and social media. A 2015 study claimed that watching 3D content had a similar effect to brain-training exercises.
Consumer psychologist Mr Fagan said that the increased stimulation(刺激) found in watching something in 3D "exercised" the brain and improved performance in the short term. "3D films can play the role of ‘brain-training’ games and help to make children ‘smarter’ in the short term," he said. "The shortening of response times after watching 3D was almost three times as big as that gained from watching 2D; in other words, 3D helps children process aspects of their environment more quickly. This is likely to be because 3D is a mentally stimulating experience which ‘gets the brain's juices flowing’."
The experiment saw children given a range of cognitive tests before watching 20 minutes of a movie in either 2D or 3D and being tested again. The results showed those who saw the 3D content reacted faster and performed bettering the second round of testing. Mental engagement also rose by 13% among 3D watchers. Child psychologist Dr Woolfson added that “supportive parenting” and regularly listening to classical music can also aid a child’s memory.
【1】The reason why children perform better after watching a 3D movie is that ________.
A. a 3D movie makes their brain active
B. a 3D movie is more exciting than a 2D movie
C. children enjoy watching a 3D movie
D. children like the experience which “gets the brain’s juices flowing”
【2】Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Only “supportive parenting” and listening to music can help a child’s memory.
B. The children in the experiment are tested only once.
C. All the children doubled the cognitive processing speed in testing.
D. Children’s attention spans have shortened in the past 10 years because of access of.
【3】Where does this passage probably come from?

B. A science textbook.
