One June, I helped my grandma water the freshly planted flowers around the house. She was so gentle with them they grew so fast. When all the work were finished, I ran to get my bike to ride for a while. As I was getting on it, however, I noticed there was anything new. I got off and kneel down on the walkway leading to our house. I found a single wild flower coming out of a crack by the walkway, without the water, soil or love.

The surprised new life hit me a lot. Sometimes in my own life, I felt my grow looked like grandma’s flowers, that were loved and cared for. At other times I felt as if I were that wild flower, growing by the walkway quiet and having to grow through the solid concrete. I realized that it doesn’t matter where you grow and it matters that you keep growing.

【答案】1. them后加that

2. werewas

3. anythingsomething

4. kneelknelt/kneeled

5. 去掉the

6. surprisedsurprising

7. growgrowth

8. thatwhich

9. quietquietly

10. andbut

so…that…,如此……以至于……,故them后加that。

主語(yǔ)work是不可數(shù)名詞,所以謂語(yǔ)用單三,故將were成was。

此處water, soil or love表示泛指,故去掉the。

非限制性定語(yǔ)從句中,逗號(hào)后面不能用that引導(dǎo),故將that改成which。

not…but…,不是……而是……,故將and改成but。

Wanna soften the blow of a hangover?

A hangover refers to the headache and sick feeling that you have the day after drinking too much alcohol. If you are looking for something to nurse your hangover, you will find the following right ideas.

1. ASIAN PEAR JUICE

Have some extra Asian pears at home? Run them through your juicer before your next night out. According to researchers at Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, just 7.4 ounces of Asian pear juice is enough to soften the blow of a hangover. The scientists say that the juice interacts with enzymes that break down alcohol, speeding up your metabolism and leaving less surplus alcohol for your body to absorb. There’s just one catch: The juice must be consumed before you drink anything else in order to be effective.

2. MUSIC

Anyone who’s ever suffered through a massive hangover knows that sound is the enemy. But while your roommate’s 9 a.m. tap dancing practice might exacerbate (加劇) your symptoms, music may have the opposite effect. Research has shown that listening to music can provide relief to migraines, which are similar to hangover headaches. As long as the music is pleasant and suits your taste, it should help to drown out the chorus of pain laying in your mind. Head sensitivity isn’t the only symptom music helps with. According to researchers at the University of Edinburgh, listening to your favorite music also eases pain.

3. EGGS

The best way to tackle a hangover with food is to eat while you drink. Chowing down after the damage has already been done may distract you from your turmoil for a short while, but it won’t soothe your physical symptoms. There are a few exceptions: Eggs, for example, have hangover-fighting potential thanks to a special ingredient. The food is packed with cysteine, an amino acid that breaks down the drinking byproduct acetaldehyde (乙醛). So whether you prefer to enjoy brunch out or at home, make sure your meal includes eggs in some form.

1According to the passage, the author may agree with the following EXCEPT______.

A.Asian pear juice can help soften the blow of a hangover if you drink it before anything else.

B.Your roommate can make you suffer less from a hangover by practising tap dancing at 9.

C.Eggs are said to contain a special ingredient that may soothe the symptoms of a hangover.

D.Enjoying your favorite piece of music is an efficient way to fight the pain of a hangover.

2The passage is most probably taken from ______.

A.a textbookB.a science fiction

C.a health magazineD.an advertisement

Teenagers are often a difficult group. With all those hormones(荷爾蒙)flooding in their bodies, they can be moody, unpredictable, and tend to make uncertain choices. But however confusing their teenage years are, kids can still be generally happydepending on their lifestyle choices.According to a new research by British scientists, teens who don't smokedrink only moderately(適度地) or not at all,and who don't eat much junk food are likely to be happier than other teens.

The study looked at 40,000 British families and came up with some interesting findings. For examplekids who never drank alcohol were up to six times more likely to report higher levels of happiness than kids who drank. And teens who smoked were five times less likely to rate high on happiness charts compared to kids who didn't smoke. The same goes for diet and physical activities. The more fruits and vegetables kids eat,and the more hours they spend playing sports, the happier they are.

Nowof course this doesn't mean that not smoking or drinking, and playing sports can guarantee happiness. It could be that kids who have happy character tend to be more active and less addicted to drinking or smoking. And it could equally be the case that kids who are unhappy are more related to drinkingsmoking and eating junk food.

Other studies have shown that exercise is a proven way to treat anxiety and depression. Future studies may support the idea that other healthy behaviors, including refraining(克制)from smoking, drinkingand eating too much junk food, can avoid sadness and increase happiness, too.

C.offering examplesD.analyzing causes

2What can we learn from the text?

One evening after work, I found a beautiful little fox with a injured leg. She was like a Disney fox. Then I fed her some fish. A couple of week later the fox was back, completely better and had visited ever since. She was comfortably enough to come really near to me. She allowed me to photographing her, the best of which I posted it on social media. Soon after, one day she took her cubs together to visit me, that was really unexpected. It’s amazed to have this connection with something so wild this busy city. But happily the loving fox still keeps turning up.
