Here are a few tips we’ve put together to help you learn English well.
Speak, speak, speak!
Practise speaking as often as you can—even speaking to yourself is good practice. Try recording yourself whenever you can. Compare your pronunciation with the master version, see how you can do better and have another try. If you do this several times, you will find that each version is better than the last.
Why not learn with someone else?
It helps if you can learn with someone else. If you can persuade a friend or family member to study with you, it will make you keep working. Agree times to meet and set goals for the week, and test each other regularly.
Don’t get stuck by a word you don’t know
Practise improvising (即興的) ways of getting your meaning across while speaking spontaneously (本能), even if you don’t know the exact words or phrases. Think of things you might want to say whenever you have spare time. A basic example is the use of tenses. If you don’t know the past tense but want to talk about yesterday, use the verb in the present tense and use the word for “yesterday”. Use facial expressions, hand movements, anything to get your meaning across.
Language learning is also about intuition (直覺)
Guesswork is important in learning a new language. When listening to recorded material, you aren’t expected to understand everything first time round. If you play the same piece several times, you will most probably understand something new each time. Learn to make maximum use of all the clues you can pick up. For example, what do the speakers sound like? Happy? Angry? Calm? Etc.
Build up your vocabulary
A wide vocabulary is the key to successful language learning but don’t try to learn too much at once. It’s best to study frequently, for short periods of time. Take a maximum of six or seven items of vocabulary and learn them. Put them into sentences to fix them in your mind, then come back to them later. Much of the vocabulary in the course is presented by topic.
And above all, have fun!

Getting paid to talk about the World Cup is a great job. I’m not a football commentator(評論員),though-just an English teacher in japan.
I came to japan two years ago, and didn't think I would stay, but japan has that effect on you. People after endup tiving bere longer than they planned. I think it’s best to teach in a biggest eity where there are onther foreigners to mix with. Rather than a small town where English teachers often complain of feeling like a goldfish in a bovd. Many people choose to live in Tokyo, of course, which is good for the nightlife factor. But I’d say that for geueral quality of living, cities of neither too large nor too small, like Sapporo where I live, are better choices.
I teach English privately, which means I’m my own boss. If you want to devote yourself to private teaching, it’s well worth doing a TEFL eourse first. Beeause your lessons will be much better for it. The problem with private teaching is finding students; it took me a year to build up a full schedule(日程表)of private lessons, so I started out teaching in schools part time.
Most of my foreign friends here work full-time for big English conversation schools. The salary is fine to live on. But whether you can save money depends on how much going out and traveling you do here.
The schools are reluetam to take time off -even teachers with tichets for the England-Argentina game had trouble getting the day off.

The Accelerated Reader (AR) Program is a computerized reading enrichment program that combines great children’s literature with computer skills.As an individualized reading program, it is designed to motivate students to read more and to read good literature.Students of different abilities can use this program.It is not a competitive program but one that improves any student's reading ability.
Here is how it works.Students select books in their reading range from our Accelerated Reader Selection and read it at their own pace.Once the student has completed the book, he/she is ready to take an AR quiz.Each quiz consists of 5, 10, or 20 multiple choice comprehensive questions about the book.
After taking the quiz, the computer shows the student how many questions he/she answered correctly, shows the correct answers for missed questions, and praises the students' efforts with an on-screen personalized message.Passing the quiz assures the teacher and the parent that the child actually read and understood the book.Each student tests independently—reading the quiz questions himself/herself.
The computer keeps track of reading points, books, and average test scores, as well as other data.A student may test on a book only once and should, therefore, have thoroughly read and understood the contents before taking the quiz.Each student is responsible for reading the screen to be sure the quiz, by title and author, is the correct one he/she wishes to take.
